Bridging Events

Bridging

The Bridging Ceremony is an annual youth- and young-adult-led worship, where we celebrate the transition from the youth to the young adult community, and recognize those moving out of the young adult age group.

Bridging events throughout the weekend are opportunities for youth who are “bridging” to attend young adult programs and begin to form connections with those in the young adult community.

Youth who will be bridging this year are warmly encouraged to attend at least one of the social events with young adults below. Advisors who are within the young adult age range (25-35) are also welcome to attend these bridging events.

Youth and advisors can register for all of these events on the CanUUdle registration form.

Events for Bridging Youth

Friday, 1:00 - 5:00 pm ET - Young Adult Mini-Con Part 1
On the first day of the symposium, young adults and bridging youth are invited to the opening Young Adult (YA) Gathering. Meet friends, both old and new, join for icebreakers, crafts, games, songs and snacks, and get to know others in the YA community! You can join us at any time in the afternoon.

Saturday, 5:00 - 7:00 pm ET - Bridging Youth and Young Adult Dinner
Now in its 15th year, the Bridging Dinner is a valuable opportunity for older youth (17-19) and young adults to get to know each other in a relaxed setting. Bridging youth and any young adult advisors who would like to attend the dinner will travel together from the church to a nearby restaurant.

Saturday, 7:30 - 8:30 pm ET - Bridging Ceremony
Bridging is a symbol of the transition from youth to young adult, and is a way for young adults to welcome newcomers to their community. Any youth who are 17 to 19 years old may 'bridge' in this service. You are welcome to bridge more than once!

Junior youth (12-13 year-olds) will also be welcomed into the youth community, and young adults who have reached the age of 35 may wish to bridge out of young adulthood. If you would like to be recognized in either of these ways, reach out to casey.stainsby@cuc.ca.

Special guests of bridgers and other members of our wider Unitarian Universalist community are all welcome to attend this special event.

The Bridging Ceremony will be livestreamed on Zoom (find your local time). Contact casey.stainsby@cuc.ca for the link.
