Social Emotional Learning

Social Emotional Learning

The social-emotional wellness of our students and staff is our primary concern. Assisting our students and teachers in re-engaging socially as well as in teaching and learning is our utmost priority.

    • Through Yale’s Ruler Program (additional information can be found here), Second Steps, and the Advisory Program, students and teachers will engage in social skills activities and will have opportunities to express and discuss their concerns and feelings in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on their lives.

    • Students who need additional support in this transition time will have access to support staff such as school counselors, social workers, and school psychologists.

    • Professional learning at the end of the 2019-2020 school-year also addressed the social-emotional wellness of our students and informed our teachers of signs of trauma while providing resources that can be used throughout the coming school-year.

    • Understanding that the social-emotional wellness of our faculty and staff directly impacts our students, the district will continue to provide opportunities for faculty and staff to speak with trained professionals as was provided in June.
