The September 8. 2020 start date of school allows for the following professional learning and preparation for teachers prior to students returning:
CONVOCATION - An annual gathering of all district faculty and staff to open the school year, celebrate milestones, and ensure alignment in mission and vision.
COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOL TRAINING - All faculty and staff will participate in a standardized, mandatory training on COVID-19 specific health and safety protocols.
TEACHER WORK DAY - This day provides teachers the opportunity to organize their resources in their classrooms/offices/teaching areas. It will be especially important this year as all available space in the classrooms is being utilized to maximize social distancing.
DIVERSITY AND EQUITY TRAINING - This training will address identifying implicit bias; ensuring equity in opportunity to all regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identification, religious beliefs, socio-economic level, and cultural background; and understanding the impact of prejudice, racism, and discrimination.
DISTANCE LEARNING RESOURCES - Professional learning time will be allotted to reviewing, becoming familiar with, and planning to incorporate a variety of Google Chrome-compatible resources that can be used in distance learning.
