Last year about this time FamilyLife launched a new parenting initiative around the Like Arrows movie and followed with the Art of Parenting (AOP) video series. Our prayer was “What if God would allow us the privilege to impact a million people in the top three languages (English, Spanish, Mandarin) in the next three years.” Well here is an update of how God is answering our prayers around the world.

• Singapore - FamilyLife Singapore—Patrick & Estella Low—hosted a Like Arrows showing and Art of Parenting preview to launch small groups.  Over 100 pastors and lay leaders attended.

• Portugal - Mark and Christine Daniel traveled to Portugal to assist in an incredible launch day in Lisbon and Porto, Portugal, for the A Day Together couples event.  

• Ecuador - Armando Tamayo reports: “In Ecuador we have over 300 AOP facilitators working with Art of Parenting small groups. We are firming up our plans to present the Like Arrows movie to the Armed Forces of Ecuador, touching more than 30,000 military personnel.”

• Argentina - Like Arrows report from Sebastián Díaz in La Rioja: “210 people in my city saw the movie. 25 people were turned away because the theater was sold out. And they allowed me to preach the gospel. 15 people made a decision for Christ. The glory is for Him. Thank you for your prayers.”

• Latin America - Exciting news regarding Como Flechas (the Spanish version of Like Arrows): almost 92,000 people have seen the movie in theaters across 13 countries!!!  To God be the Glory!  Please pray for the development of Art of Parenting groups for all of the people that saw the movie.

As a follow-up to Like Arrows movie in Latin America, about two thousand pastoral and leadership couples have been trained as Art of Parenting facilitators. The initial printing of 12,000 Art of Parenting manuals is now depleted and in the hands of our FamilyLife volunteers throughout Latin America. A second printing of 18,000 manuals was ordered, and shipped in mid-May.

In addition to our prayer that included the top three languages, God has gone beyond that. Someone has agreed to pay for the translation of the parenting materials into Arabic! To God be the glory and we are excited to see additional ways this may be used to introduce others to the hope of the Gospel! 

From a woman who saw Like Arrows (Como Fletchas) in Yucatan, Mexico, and joined an AOP small group...  (Translated) “Good day! I have now spent two Saturdays taking the AOP course, let me tell you the material is of excellent quality, the content is very good and has been a great blessing for our family. The facilitators are very kind and capable, the course and the movie have transformed my life. Just let me tell you that we went to see the movie twice at the theater, I have learned a lot, I hope to be able to put it all into practice with all of its teachings. Once again, thank you a thousand times.”

          • Pray for us as we attend the Plano Weekend to Remember. We didn’t get to go earlier this spring because of illness. 

          • Pray for us as we continue serving in our local church as small group leaders.
