Praying for your families to feel the peace, presence and assurance that God is with you.
A few years ago, Barbara Rainey and another coworker, Mary, met to discuss the possibility of hosting a women’s event that would include women from all walks of life. In the past, we held an event for moms but our desire was to broaden the umbrella of ministry to all women. From this dream and discussion came the Women’s Getaway that was held last month at The Cove in North Carolina.
The theme for the weekend was Enough! Angie was working the event and missed part of some sessions, but here are some of her takeaways.
We let failure get in the way and falsely define our true identity. Just because you failed doesn’t mean you are a failure. Jesus qualifies you. (1 Corinthians 1:12)
God will use your past to develop you but not define you. Your past is a stepping stone for what He’s prepared for you. He’s repurposing you.
Forget what is behind. Stop looking back. Look back to give glory to God and not place blame.
Satan wants you to keep from believing what God says is true. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2) Overcome the shouts with the whispers of God.
God said I AM. I AM is the God who fills in your blanks. I am enough when He calls me to do what He wants me to do. His power follows my obedience.
Here are several comments from others who attended.
“I came without knowing the topic or at least what “enough” really meant. Speaker make trusting Jesus to be ENOUGH everyday, in every situation very ‘possible’. This is what the Spirit has been challenging me to understand. Please have more of these women’s getaways. The idea of touching single women and/or childless women along with the married women and mothers is so important in today’s American culture as we are not hearing these messages anywhere else.” Eddi single
“My parents had a poor marriage so I never wanted to be married thinking it is only full of pain. Now I have hope that a marriage can reflect the glory of God. Two weeks ago at the age of 31, I met some for the first time in my life... this weekend could not have been more timely as I am open to God’s plans for me.” Jess , single adult, 30s
“Tell your story” by Sharon Jaynes-- that statement after everything that happened in the evening session was like a slap in the face. I am tired of the enemy telling me to be ashamed... and I asked the Holy Spirit to cleanse me & get out all the junk out for once and for all. I am free! I am asking him to bring the ones who need to hear my story into my path so it is useful and not shameful for now on…" Mom, Grandmother... Finally FREE at 75!
Rachel graduated Saturday, May 5th, from JBU with a BA in Child and Family Studies and BS in Family and Human Services. This summer she is spending 5 weeks in Peru with our niece Lauren.
When Rachel returns she will be starting a full time job working with children with autism in northwest Arkansas. She will then start working on advanced degrees at JBU graduate school in August.
Thank you for your continued prayers and words of comfort in the loss of Billy’s brother.
Praise that Rachel graduated from JBU and has a full-time job when she returns from Peru.
Rachel leaves this week for mission work in Peru. Please pray for her as she serves alongside our niece for five weeks.
We’ve had an unusually busy spring with a lot of great events and time on the road. Pray for God to strengthen us as we are feeling a little weary.
Please continue to pray for friends who are facing difficult health and family situations. Pray God would use us as He sees fit.
