Participation in Government/Participation in Government Honors
Successful completion of Participation in Government or Participation in Government Honors is required for graduation.
Participation in Government aims to provide students with opportunities to become engaged in the political process by acquiring the knowledge and practicing the skills necessary for active citizenship.
Content will be largely derived from present local, national and global issues allowing teachers to use current events as a basis for understanding key ideas and conceptual understandings.
Students will be required to complete several projects, including a Civic Literacy Project. 1/2 Credit
The Participation in Government Honors class incorporates all of the concepts described above in greater depth. In order to help them develop as independent learners who will be successful in college, students will have more autonomy in selecting topics of study and will pursue those studies in small groups or independently.
