History Through Film

This course is designed to provide significant enrichment opportunities to our students in history grades 9-12. Through the audio/visual impact of film, our students will gain a more in depth understanding of the people and events that have shaped our world.

Students will be required to view, discuss and assess the historical accuracy and relevance of important films such as: Braveheart, The Last Emperor, Schindler’s List, Hotel Rwanda, The Last Samurai, Gladiator, Last of the Mohicans, The Patriot, Lincoln and Saving Private Ryan. The course will also evaluate films that impacted social culture such as Forrest Gump.

This is a discussion based class. Students should be prepared to work collaboratively in small groups and participate in whole class discussions.
