AP European History

AP European History is designed to teach basic chronology, major events, and trends from ap­proxi­mately l450 to the l990's.

The course deals with concepts, major historical facts, historical analysis, essay writing around a major thesis, and the ability to work with historical evidence.

Students take the Advanced Placement Examination in May. Their score on this exam may qualify them for college credit or advanced standing.


Prerequisite: Departmental approval.

Requirements: Summer assignment; AP Exam in May

Recommended: Grade of 80 or better in preceding S.S. classes, Grade of 85 or better in S.S. 10, superior reading and writing skills.


*Successful students should plan to spend approximately 5 hours per week outside of class on this course.
