Summary of the problem

Should people freely be able to own a gun but should people also be able to carry their gun on them whether to a store or a park for their protection? Gun violence has and more than likely will be a problem. Sadly people get consumed by their greed, selfishness, and even anger to the point where they kill or rob someone. Though even when owning a gun for protection of yourself and others people will still die to gun violence

Prevent Gun Violence

This video is talking about how the gun violence in Maryland has increased more than 50% since 2012 and is the leading factor to teen and child deaths. More than 1300 people are injured due to gun violence and many are killed.

Mental illness

Mental illness is a big factor in gun violence. If a person isn't mentally stable they are more prone to anger outbursts or depressive feelings and these can be the cause of them using a gun for robbery or killing.

illegal guns

The possession of illegal guns also increases the risk of gun violence. These illegal guns can get passed to people will mental illness and be used in robberies or in gang wars.

Emotion

Emotion can take control of someone and completely change their actions. Emotion causes gun accidents to happen and it happens because of a fight and someone got to angry and decided a gun would solve the problem.

Subtopic 1: More guns

If more people had guns to protect themselves then people would be hesitant to rob or kill because then one mistake and their life could be taken

Subtopic 2: No guns

If there were no more guns then most likely everyone would be walking around harmless. But guns could still be illegally taken in and if someone does have a gun illegally then they have the ability to do whatever they want.

Subtopic 3: Stricter laws

If stricter laws were in place for guns this would limit the amount that would be sold to people. It would stop people with mental illness from doing something dumb and could stop guns being sold to people with bad intentions

My opinion

I believe you should have the right to own and carry a gun for protection but I also believe gun laws should be stricter. Guns shouldn't be passed out to anybody and guns should not be given to people with mental illnesses.
