Choir

May 11-15 and 18-22, 2020

Standards addressed: we will complete our music video project over the next two weeks and will have them available to view the final week of school. Please read the outlined assignment and send me a message for any clarifications.

The next two weeks I would like you to try and create the music video that you planned out. It does not have to feature you or anyone singing, it could be multiple scenes of different things inside or outside your house, your pet, or anything that fits your objective.

It needs to be a minimum of 1:00 min long but can be up to your entire song. You have two weeks on this portion of the project so please take you time and be creative. The easiest way to film will be a phone/tablet and if you do not have access to these, it’s okay. You can do the alternate assignment that consist of one discussion per week (weeks 8 & 9). I will post my video tomorrow (5/12) to give you ideas of what I’m talking about.

We are wrapping up our planning phase of our "favorite things" project. Please read through the criteria and submit your google slides by Friday 5/8.

Okay, this is the last bit of research you will do before creating your final project. You have looked up one of your favorite song, and one of your favorite music videos. Now you will come up with your plan of how you will use elements from the video and create a NEW music video that features your favorite song.

You will create a plan just like you are the director and create a google slides presentation of it. There needs to be at least 6 slides that cover:

  • What elements from the original video you would like to/able to recreate

  • What differences you will add to make the video fit with your song choice

  • What props and elements you will need to use

  • What you are doing to ENHANCE (make it better) the song

  • What technological items and effects you will use(i.e. Movie maker software, iPad, phone, etc.)

Please share your PLAN with me this week, It needs to be thought out, relevant to the song, and creative with your own spins.

April 27- May 1, 2020

Hey guys. Last week I had you pick you favorite song, record yourself telling your analysis of the songs, uploading it to google drive and sharing it with me.

This week, I want you to choose your favorite music video. It doesn’t have to be because of the song that it is with. For me, one of my favorite music videos is “Here We Go Again” by OK go. (https://youtu.be/dTAAsCNK7RA)

So this week, pick a music video, and analyze these three things:

  • What makes this video your favorite? What elements are different, unique, or cool?

  • Does this video fit the song that it is with? If you paired it with another song, what would fit with it?

  • You are the director. You are going to put your favorite song that we picked from last week to a remake of this video next week. Explain your plans to me and how you will adapt this in your own setting

You need to submit these ideas in a video on google drive to me in the same folder from the fist one. Please do not send me only a video of the music video that you choose.

April 20-24, 2020

This week I want to hear from you! You can choose your favorite musical artist or group, pick one of their songs and explain it in three ways:

  • Musically- If you were to teach me the song, what area would you start in? What might be some tricky spots? Is there lots of repetition? What's unique about this song?

  • Personally- why did you choose this song and artist? What does this song personally mean to you?

  • Culturally- How has this song been received by the public? is it popular? Does it have any awards?

*** All songs must be school and age appropriate. Make this your own! I want to hear from you as a musician! Please Submit all Videos to Google Drive and Share them with me. They will not be viewed by others!! I will create an individual folder on your google drive and will share my favorite song video to you. The folder will be there by Monday 4/20 and will be titled "My favorite things".

We will add more to this same folder as the Weeks go by! I seriously miss you guys and want to see your personality come out through you song selection and analysis.

April 13-17, 2020

Here is a TED talk I want you to watch on classical music. It is 20 minutes so set aside time to watch it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9LCwI5iErE

As you watch it I want you to think of these things:

  • What is my impressions of classical music so far? (not limited to the Classical era, but all music explored already in our music history units)

  • What does the speaker explain about tones and notes that you hear and your brain processes?

  • Does the Chopin song that is played remind you of a musical era and of a composer?

Answer these on the corresponding discussion post in Canas
