Woodwinds: Watch the fundamentals lesson review and follow along. Continue to work on your Irons submission, and catch up on any assignments if you need to. Pick one line on lesson 38 in your Ed Sueta Book and clap/count/play/submit. Due May 15th.

Percussion: Watch the mallet lesson video for review. In the Packet, clap/count/play the first 4 lines on 2-14 (pay attention to where the accents are, and the triplets on line 3 and 4). Continue to work on your Irons submission, and catch up on any assignments if you need to. Due May 15th.

5th Grade:

Woodwinds: Watch the fundamentals lesson review and follow along. Count/clap/play lines 68 (follow the breath marks), 73 (notice time signature and dotted half note), and 74 (double check your fingering charts). Make sure you are checking the key and time signatures, and use your fingering if you are unsure. Due May 15th.

Percussion: Watch the mallet lesson video. Play your Ab and Db scale and green scales. On page 4-26 of The Packet, say note names/then play “Camptown Races”. If you do not have a marimba, clap/count/play the first three lines of 1-20. Due May 15th.

Playing Assignment: Watch the video on dotted notes. Rehearse the assigned lines and then turn in your recording on Canvas.

Woodwinds: Play your Concert Bb, Concert Eb, Concert G, and chromatic scales and submit (this is preparation for your submission for Irons). Use the Irons sheet for your chromatic scale. If you have already recorded or submitted your video, you may submit the same one on canvas. Due May 8th.

Percussion: Count/clap/play the snare etude from your submission for Irons. Use a metronome. Play your Concert Eb and Bb scale patterns and chromatic scale. If you have already recorded or submitted your video, you may submit the same one on canvas. Due May 8th.

5th Grade:

Woodwinds: Count/clap/play lines 62, 65, and 66. Make sure you are checking the key signature, and use your fingering chart for the new note on line 62. Due May 8th.

Percussion: Watch the lesson on the chromatic scale and practice this. Record and submit the chromatic scale at any tempo. If you do not have a marimba, count/clap/play measures 21-30 (play each line individually) with metronome at 80. This is a flam tap exercise. Due May 8th.

Woodwinds: Practice the ascending and descending of your Chromatic Page 3, record and submit by April 24th. Watch the Chromatic Lesson and take notes.

Percussion: Review your chromatic scale and record/submit by April 24th. Watch the chromatic lesson and take notes. Also, review your Bb and Eb scale patterns.

5th Grade:

Woodwinds: Count/clap/play lines 58 and 61 in your book due April 24th. Make sure you are paying attention to where the slurs are. Watch the Chromatic Lesson and take notes.

Percussion: Watch the video lesson on Flams. Make sure you are using the grip that we use in class, not the one in the video. Record and submit 8 flams on your right hand, 8 on left, 8 on right, 8 on left due April 24th. No tempo requirement.

Woodwinds: Begin working on page 3 of your chromatic pages. Watch and take notes on the video lesson titled “Rhythm, dotted notes, ties, and rests”. In your Ed Sueta book, pick your favorite line on Lesson 37 and clap/count/play and submit by April 17th.

Percussion: Watch and take notes on the video lesson titled “Rhythm, dotted notes, ties, and rests”. Play your Bb and Eb Major scale patterns (scale, green scale, thirds, arpeggios) and submit by April 17th. If you cannot play the full two octaves on your at home marimba, modify it to one octave. If you do not have an at home marimba, record and submit 2-5 in The Packet by April 17th.

5th Grade:

Woodwinds: Watch and take notes on the video lesson titled “Note values, duration, and time signatures”. Clap/count/play lines 55 and 57 in your book and submit by April 17th.

Percussion: Go to page 2-8 in The Packet and pay attention to the stickings. Say stickings/then play the first 2 lines. Say stickings/then play lines 3 and 4. Play at metronome at 60. Record and submit by April 17th.

6th Grade:

Woodwinds: Continue to work on page 1 and 2 of your chromatic pages--make sure you are using a metronome. Start working on page 3. Open the Style/Note Length lesson and review your notes. Demonstrate your understanding of the different styles on your instrument assignment: play 4 legato quarter notes, then 4 long lifted. 4 legato, then 4 lifted. Same for detached, accented, lifted accent, roof top accent. Due April 9th.

Percussion: Practice your Bb and Eb Major scale patterns (scale, green scale, thirds, arpeggios). This will be due the following week. Go to page 2-1 in The Packet and review the difference between legato strokes and staccato strokes. Play measure 19 to the end and record. Due April 9th.

5th Grade:

Woodwinds: Pick two lines on pages 15 or 16 and clap/count, note name, and then play them. Record and submit on canvas. Open the Style/Note Length lesson and review. Demonstrate your understanding of the different style by playing 4 legato (connected) quarter notes, then 4 detached, then 4 legato, then 4 accented, then 4 legato, then 4 roof top accents. This will be due the following week.

Percussion: Go to page 2-1 in The Packet and read the differences between legato strokes and staccato strokes. Play page 2-2 for slow practice. On 2-3, play the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th lines (measures 7-18). Record and submit by April 9th.
