TCs get a roster of student names in their email the morning of each known tutoring day. (If the schedule changes, do let Gwynne know!)
Print that roster, share it with tutors and/or your fellow teachers, and request that they give it back to you before the end of the day with the names of students who participated circled. Whatever works for you/your program to get students' names is what works for Gwynne.
The TC Weekly Report has a section for entering the names of students who participated.
In the event of a program cancellation, contact Nina Mitukiewicz, Petey Greene’s Division Manager for MA & RI: nmitukiewicz@peteygreene.org
Welcome volunteers into your classroom, introducing them to the students
Get volunteers involved in grading, reviewing assignments, etc.
Have volunteers instruct a lesson for you, requiring advanced notice for the volunteer to prepare
Identify students ahead of time to review current or upcoming assignments and/or talk about their future goals, including those related to education, with a volunteer
Encourage students to work with the volunteers
Reframe the tutor as a volunteer to avoid imposing any stigma (we understand working with a tutor can be viewed negatively, making the students think they are less intelligent and need extra help, so we would like to change the way the volunteers are presented to the students)
