The ECC-Student Introduction Meeting takes place about three weeks after a youth's first commitment to DYS. It is meant to help youth understand the Education and Career Counselor's role, the purpose of the Education and Career Plan (ECP), and support youth to begin understanding and taking ownership of their future planning.
ECCs have license to schedule these meetings according to their schedule, and they may take place by phone. The goal is to help youth prepare for the Initial Staffing.
ECC-Student Introduction Meeting notes should be uploaded as a Journal entry in Aspen within 48 hours after the meeting occurs. (NOTE: The details of this documentation expectation will be changing soon.)
ECC is assigned to youth who are detained for 30+ days or committed to DYS
