Protocol for Calling in Sick / Requesting a Substitute
In the event that a Teacher or Teaching Coordinator needs to use a sick day:
The Teacher or Teaching Coordinator shall notify the identified regional educational administrator (REC or AREC) of the sick day prior to 6:30 a.m. according to the method set forth by the respective REC/AREC (e.g., phone call). In the event that the REC/AREC does not answer, leave a voicemail. An A/REC may also establish an alternative method for communicating a sick day to the designated educational administrator (text, Google Voice, etc).
The identified regional educational administrator will determine the appropriate method for supporting this absence.
If instructional coverage is required by an educator who is not already assigned to the program, the regional educational administrator or designee will contact the on-site educator(s) to communicate the coverage plan.
Educators providing coverage are expected to arrive at the program requiring support according to direction provided by the regional educational administrator or designee.
