Tardy Policy

RRHS Tardy Policy

• 1. Teachers will allow students who are tardy into class and record tardies in Powerschool.

  2. Teachers will track and document accumulated tardies for all of their individual classes.

  3. Teachers will communicate with students and parents after tardies reach 3 and above also make sure to mark in Powerschool.

  4. Teachers will enter tardies into Educator Handbook and Powerschool once student reaches 3 tardies and above (Documentation of communication with students and parents must entered into form).

  5. Teachers will serve assigned hall duty during the first 10 minutes of their planning period to help sweep students to class with support from administration and security.

Process

• 1. Students will have FIVE minutes to transition to class. A warning bell will ring after 3 minutes followed by a tardy bell (2 minutes later).

  2. After the tardy bell rings, students who arrive late to class are to be admitted and marked tardy in PowerSchool.

  3. Teachers on hall duty are to sweep all students to their respective classrooms with security and administrative support.

  4. After 3 tardies, teacher will notify student, parent, and enter information into Educator Handbook.

  5. After 5 tardies, teacher will notify student, parent, and enter information into Educator Handbook. Grade level administrator will document and assign Consequences.

  6. After 7 tardies, teacher will notify student, parent, and enter information into Educator Handbook. Grade level administrator will document and assign Consequences.

  7. After 10 tardies, teacher will notify student, parent, and write an administrative referral. Student will be referred to Truancy Court.

  8. Students who arrive to class 10 minutes after the tardy bell or later are considered skipping. Teachers should admit student into class, contact parent, and write administrative referral.

  9. Students who arrive to class after half of the class should be marked absent. Teachers should admit student into class, contact parent, and write administrative referral.

Interventions & Consequences

*Students should be notified every time they are tardy

3rd tardy - 30 minutes of ASD or Block of ISS

4th tardy - 1 hour of ASD or 2 Blocks of ISS

5th tardy - Full-Day ISS and Parking Pass revoked for the semester

6th tardy - Insubordination-OSS

6+ tardies-OSS/ Parent Meeting to reset/Truancy Court
