Cell Phone Policy
Cell Phone/Personal Technology Policy
Student cell phone/personal technology use in the building is prohibited during school hours, except during their assigned lunch period.
Students may use their cell phones/personal technology devices before 7:10 am, during their assigned lunch period, and after 2:10 pm.
Staff may collect devices in the beginning of each class period and return them at the end of the class period.
Staff may also utilize red (cell phone inactive) & green (cell phone active) signs to determine when students can use in classroom.
Staff & administration are not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones/personal technology devices.
Staff and administration will not disrupt instruction to conduct searches for lost or stolen cell phones/personal technology devices.
Lost or stolen phones/personal technology devices may be reported to Rocky River’s School Resource Officer(s).
Interventions & Consequences
Teachers are expected to repeatedly communicate expectations for cell phone use with students & parents. Teachers are expected to hold students accountable for cell phone expectations at all times. Teachers will converse with students & parents when cell phone expectations are violated and document conversations.
School-wide Expectations:
First Offense - Teacher will make a parent contact for that student
Second - Teacher will make a parent contact for that student.
Third Offense - Teacher will submit an administrative referral for the 3rd violation or for student refusal to relinquish cell phone/personal technology device. Administrative referrals must include documentation of prior interventions and parent communication.
