Introduction "The Love Missive" (Carl Herpfer): Zoom in CLOSE to the painting and look for details that reveal the nature of the relationship being depicted. What interpretation can you make about the people in the painting and their situation? How do you know that? Look at their body language, the colors used, items that suggest other 'meanings', the setting, the use of light and shadow, etc. Consider the title. What is a missive? Pay attention to the details!
