The link here allows you to listen to an interview with Amanda Montell, the author of Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism. No matter what your topic, I think she's fascinating to listen to. Her own father was a cult survivor and she is a linguist. She talks about her research process too which can be very helpful to you. It's an optional activity, but one I think could really be informative! She does a really good job of tackling the nuances of "cultishness" in groups that we don't really think of as "destructive cults", and how we are drawn to the community that groups- cultish and otherwise- create.
She also has a podcast you might be interested in- "Sounds Like a Cult". Check it out if you are so inclined!
For ideas on the shape/design of a Board Presentation, click image!
You can use a traditional tri-fold type board, or you can utilize other materials to create your presentation, like cardboard boxes, etc.
You must include information from all 5 sources, visual interest, dystopian tropes, and at least one of the Essential Questions. Be as creative as you like in the styling, but remember, content is QUEEN.
You may also set up props or additional "staging" elements on Gallery Day if you like. We will set up on Friday, March 3rd in the Library for viewing!
