We all may have our own approach to studying, but including some of these tips can help you make the most effective use of your study time.
Make a study timetable. Find out the date of each work requirement and develop a study timetable leading up to them.
Create a “to do” list before each study session. Breaking tasks down into small, manageable tasks will make it less overwhelming. Crossing the task off on completion can also lead to feelings of accomplishment.
Avoid procrastination. Procrastination is when you do everything else but the task you need to do. Too much procrastination can add to stress and lead to you running out of time to do your best work.
If you feel distracted by the phone or emails, you may wish to switch the mobile off for an hour or two whilst studying
Take regular breaks. Get up and move around and away from the desk at least every 50 minutes for 10 minutes can help with concentration and learning.
Use Study Lines effectively. If you are undertaking VCE/VCAL you may have what you think of as a ‘free’, at the school we prefer to call these “Study lines”, using this time effectively can reduce the amount of tasks and study that you have to complete after school.
Balance is important. Exercise can actively reduce stress, sleeping and eating well can help us stay healthy and alert, and socialising can also be important, try and keep a healthy life balance
