Junior Visual Art is an option subject, offered for one semester at Year 9 and a full year at Year 10. Students can then choose between the Visual Art or Digital Art pathways at Year 11, which feed into the senior subjects of Paint, Sculpture, Design and Photography.
Students at this level are required to develop skills in the following areas, based on the NZ Curriculum:
Practical Knowledge
Developing Ideas
Understanding Context
Communicating and Interpreting
Students at Rangitoto College are also expected to work on developing their core values, which are connected to both the Key competencies and the school Values. Teachers and students work hard to build a collaborative and safe environment where students have every opportunity to succeed.
