Grade 1 - Trip to Berg Venture
The Grade 1 children set off for their final overnight trip this year on 10 August. We headed for the berg, where we were greeted by warm sunshine, breathtaking views and the fabulous BergVenture facilitators. After a quick bite to refuel and some icebreaker activities, the children set off on a hike down to the river. Some children dipped into the chilly river water, whilst others looked for treasures and built rock towers, before heading back up to camp.Â
After lunch, the children were divided into groups, where they worked as a team, to complete the very muddy obstacle course. The children slept fairly well and were up bright and early, ready for action. Zip lining over the dam and tree climbing with a safety harness, were the final activities and a highlight for most. The children were so brave, giving their best, despite having to overcome some real fears. It was wonderful to see how they encouraged each other and supported their friends, as they attempted the tasks. In no time at all, it was time to climb back into the bus with a heap of muddy lost property and exhausted little bodies, ready for a weekend at home to recover from the action-packed two days away.
