As we say goodbye to another fantastic term full of development, learning, and numerous memories, I want to take this time to express my deepest appreciation to every one of you. Our Cliftonians' passion, excitement, and tenacity, our staff's unwavering commitment, and our parents' unfailing support have made this term really exceptional. Despite this, the trees have already stated that the season is changing, and flowers are blooming everywhere. As much as spring is nature's way of reminding us of the cycle of life, it also serves as a reminder to our older citizens that times are changing.

To our Clifton boarders from all walks of life, we extend our sincerest appreciation for your boundless curiosity, infectious energy, and durable spirit. Throughout this term, you have been the life and soul of our school community, making every day a joyous and vibrant experience. Your passion for learning, kindness towards each other, and determination to overcome challenges have been awe-inspiring. You have truly exemplified the core values that define our school, and for that, we are immensely proud of every one of you.

In conclusion, the virtue of self-control is a cornerstone of personal growth and character development. By nurturing this virtue in our students, we empower them to face life’s challenges with wisdom, compassion and resilience. Let us continue to work together as a school community to instill this essential value and create a nurturing environment where our students can thrive academically, emotionally and socially. Boarding school peers stay in touch with each other long after schooling and those are the special connections with people which allows boarding at Clifton to be diverse, inclusive, and welcoming.

X-Factor Weekend

The Clifton boarding family invites potential boarders through their gates over the X-factor weekend. This gem of a school has been hidden for far too long, and X-factor weekend is the perfect time to share the Clifton way with our potential boarders. Our school is blessed with rare and unique settings and a vibrant community, which sets us apart. We embraced these attributes and created a programme that facilitates growth opportunities. This was deliberately designed to encourage socialisation and bonding, which effectively enabled our prospective boarders to get a feel for school life.

The school, located in a beautiful part of the country, seeks for its students to have a rigorous academic drive while engaging in extraordinary learning experiences outdoors; hence, the programme was focused on the new and old. Our uniqueness allows us to offer students unprecedented opportunities outside of the classroom. Students enjoyed Fort building, a leisurely stroll to Walk to Cliffs Dam, a braai outside the newly renovated dining room, and Stokbroodjies by the dining room fireplace. Additionally, the children had a chance to tackle our obstacle course in thrilling relay races and the activities were concluded with a scavenger hunt around key parts of the school, including our famous clay mines..

The weekend concluded with a chapel service for our Clifton community as well as potential boarders and their parents. The inspiring message was inspired by a mineral that is essential in our lives: "salt." Taken from Matthew 5:13–16, "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. Thus reflecting on how to add value to lives and learning that without salt, most things have no flavour. That was a special send-off for our guests over the X-factor weekend. Clifton hopes they took with them the magical atmosphere that is always present in our beautiful school.
