Grade 4 Outdoor Learning

Our Grade 4’s  have been able to feel as though they have been fully involved in creating the Clifton river ecosystem. We planted trees and returned again to water them and add manure. Mr Quinn let us help him with his “worm farm in a pipe” creations and the children cut and drilled holes into piping. The pipes were then buried into ground near the trees we planted. Mr Quinn and Mr Mortimer taught us about which food scraps could be added into the pipes to decompose and attract worms. Hopefully the worms will love living in their new environment and in turn will add nutrients and air to the soil , that will  help all the trees grow. 

We can’t wait to see all of our trees grow and be able to one day sit in their shade.
