JP Out and About Day

The JP Out and About Day was filled with outdoor adventure and activity. Each grade tasked their children with a variety of exciting missions and projects.

The Chameleons and Duikers teamed up with the enthusiastic little Shongololos on an adventure walk down to the newly cleared stream. Whilst on their walk they stumbled upon the legendary Conker Trees. Our children were taught about the game Conkers and cannot wait to put their skills to the test. Once at the stream, the boys and girls were tasked with searching for treasures left by Mother Nature. The Grade 0 boys and girls used these treasures to complete their natural body image pictures. Whilst the Grade 00’s made hanging mobiles in their classrooms.

The Grade One children were put into groups across both classes. They headed for the hills with their clipboards, searching for various items on campus to sketch and place in the descriptive boxes, as a team. They were looking for spikey, round, and green things in nature! During their outdoor learning, they could not help peeling off into the outdoor adventure area, to enjoy the newly rebuilt ziplines and climbing equipment.

The Grade Two children completed a Numeracy activity outdoors where they were required to estimate, measure, and learn about capacity. They then went up to Claymines and played in the mud and the forest before heading off to the obstacle course for PE. The day ended in an isiZulu lesson under the trees!

The Grade Three children spent some time in Top Woods making forts. The children were split into teams and had to build a fort fit for a King. This was a wonderful way to develop their collaborative, communication, and creative skills!

It was such an exciting way to end off the week and once again highlighted the beauty of our campus and just how nature really is a wonderful source of knowledge.
