Hello, KLO Families!
What a fun and busy time to be a Kloefkorn Cub! Our recent Art Night was a wonderful celebration of creativity, and it was incredible to see our Cubs’ artwork of all types on display throughout the building. A special shoutout to Ms. Jurek for creating such a meaningful opportunity to highlight our students’ talents, lift their imaginations, and bring our community together. Nobody does it better! What a fantastic evening! Keep an eye on the LPS Homepage for event highlights. 🎨✨
We’re also looking forward to more exciting events ahead. Our Glow Dance (third time’s the charm! 😊) is now set for April 10, and our Earth Day Celebration will take place on April 24, featuring our Color Run and a community grounds clean-up. We hope you’ll join us for these fun-filled opportunities to connect and celebrate together.
The 4th quarter is always a time of tremendous growth, joy, and celebration. We are so grateful to partner with you and your family—thank you for being such an important part of our Kloefkorn community! 💛🐾
🎉 Celebrating Quarter 3 Achievement! 🎉
📐➕ 91% of students are meeting grade-level expectations in Math!
📚📖 93% of students are meeting grade-level expectations in Reading Comprehension!
🏫👏 91% of students have maintained strong attendance, missing fewer than 10% of days!
Our instructional focus this year is fluency. Reading and rereading familiar texts at home is a powerful way to support your child’s growth. We have one more quarter to support our goal! Keep working, Cub Community!

At Kloefkorn, we believe in recognizing those who go above and beyond—those who truly inspire others. Each year, we select a student and staff as our Inspire Award Winners. This year we celebrated those selected at a morning assembly. Read about this year's award winners below.
This year, Mrs. Biester has been a true classroom champion.
She shows an unwavering commitment to individualized student support, helping every learner shine. Each day, she goes above and beyond to create meaningful and care-filled learning experiences that support the whole child—making sure every student feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
What truly sets Mrs. Biester apart is how she believes in her students—loudly and proudly—through her words, her actions, and her genuine care.
Mrs. Biester lifts up both students and colleagues and makes our entire school community stronger and brighter.
Brenna is a true guiding light, proudly leading the Kloefkorn Way each and every day.
As a fifth grader, she consistently shows kindness, grit, and determination, leaving a positive mark wherever she goes. She leads in every way—academically, socially, and behaviorally—by modeling responsibility, perseverance, and respect.
Whether she’s tackling challenges or celebrating success, Brenna inspires those around her to rise with her.
She helps others, stands up for what’s right, and always strives for her personal best. Brenna truly strengthens our school community.
Do you have a child - or do you know of a child - that will start kindergarten next year? Lincoln Public Schools is now accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2026-2027 school year.
Parents of children turning five years of age on or before July 31, 2026 can go to lps.org and click on the red “Enroll Your Student” button. Here you will also find all the information necessary for registering, the required documents needed and answers to frequently asked questions.
For children who turn five between August 1 and October 15, parents may request an assessment for their child to receive a waiver to attend school early. That information is also located on the kindergarten registration page.
Parents who do not have access to the online registration, or wish to register their child in person, should contact their attendance area elementary school as soon as possible. Questions about kindergarten registration should also be directed to the child's attendance area school.
For more information about kindergarten registration and assessment testing for incoming students, please go to: https://home.lps.org/studentservices/kindergarten-registration-assessment/.
We began taking preschool applications for 2026-27 on January 2, 2026. Children who will be three as of July 31, 2026 and not yet five, and reside within the Lincoln Public Schools boundaries are eligible to be considered for preschool. Information about the preschool application process is available on our website at https://home.lps.org/earlychildhood/preschool-application/.
Once again, our lost and found area is overflowing! We have been collecting many coats, sweatshirts, hats, mittens, gloves, and much more. Please remind your children to take a look and claim anything that belongs to them. At the end of the year, we'll donate all unclaimed items to a local charity.
Quarter 3 grades are available for viewing in ParentVUE. You can view your student's report card in ParentVUE in the Report Card tab. Hard copies of your student's report card should go home with them today. If you have never signed up for ParentVUE, please call the Kloefkorn office at 402-436-1148 to request an access code. Once you have your activation key, you will be able to set up and log in to your account. If you have previously activated your ParentVUE account, but can't remember your password, you can reset it online at https://synergyvue.lps.org/.

We have made it to the fourth quarter! As the weather gets nicer, we are starting to see more sandals around the school (myself included 😊)--please try to be mindful of the days your child has P.E. The number of P.E. injuries increase each year around this time when proper footwear for physical activity isn’t being worn. Recess happens every day as well (air quality-pending) so if your student wears sandals, please tell them to be careful at recess to avoid injuries there as well.
Our school community does such an amazing job at turning in required health documents to the health office! I truly am so grateful for everyone's partnership with that. If you get any new vaccine, physical, or dental records at any point in time including over the summer, please feel free to send those to me at school or via email.
Thank you!
💙 Ms. Kelsey
As we are in 4th quarter, classroom lessons for all grade levels will focus on discussing and thinking about their education journey (elementary school, middle school, and high school), as well as graduation, post-secondary pathways, and careers. One of our goals, even at the elementary level, is to ensure every student is on track for graduation as well as prepared for post-secondary success!

One of our most loved databases in LPS is PebbleGo. It features hundreds of articles on topics like Animals, Science, Biographies, Social Studies, and Health. Each article is written by subject experts and presented in an easy-to-read format. Many articles also include engaging videos, activities, and maps to support deeper understanding.
Find PebbleGo in the LPS Portal to access it from home and help extend your student's learning!
Password security is one of the key components of digital citizenship instruction in LPS. Students learn strategies to create strong passwords, and how to avoid having their passwords stolen. Create a plan to manage passwords and discuss what makes a password hard for others to guess.
Want ideas for supporting digital citizenship in your home? Follow your school, LPS Library Services, or #lpsdigcit on social media to get weekly tips. Find additional digital citizenship tips on our website: Library Services Digital Citizenship Tips

It's said a body needs 8 hours of sleep every night. That's especially true during the testing season. Student Chromebooks also need a good night of charging. Please help your student's remember to bring their Chromebooks fully charged every day.
LPS believes that effective instruction can and should include the appropriate use of instructional technology to support learning. To that end, a District Instructional Technology Tool (ITT) Committee works to identify ITTs that are safe for student use, support district learning goals, and encourage innovative teaching and learning. All reviewed ITTs are cataloged in the LPS ITT Matrix.
The most frequently used, approved, and supported ITTs are made available to students and staff in the LPS Portal. Students access their LPS Portal by clicking the ‘HOME’ button on their Chromebook.
Need a conversation starter with your student? Ask them for a tour of their LPS Portal and which ITTs they’re currently using in class.
Email board@kloefkornpto.org if you have any questions, or visit our website www.kloefkornpto.ptboard.com/home for more information regarding what the PTO is up to.
Elections will be held at the April 13th general meeting for the following school year, 2025-2026. Please plan to attend our meeting at 7pm in the library to vote on our board for next school year. BOARD SLATE

The cost is $20 and features each class, fall parties, science fair, and other fun school events. Please email kloefkornyearbook@gmail.com if you have any additional yearbook questions. Order HERE.
Our GLOW Dance is right around the corner! Come prepared to get our GLOW on. Mark your calendars, the new (and final) date is Friday, April 10th from 6-7pm. We can't wait to see everyone in their brightest neon gear next month!
Please join us for our annual Earth Day and 3rd Annual Color Run on Friday, April 24. Activities will begin at 5pm. Once mulch is spread on the front and side of the school, we’ll move to the playground and enjoy fun activities and end the night with a color run. See the Announcement HERE.
I want to thank everyone in the Kloefkorn community who contributed to making this year's Art Night a success! From the students who have been working since January to create artwork for the show, the custodians who work to help set up the event, families and friends who attended the event to support their students, Kloefkorn teachers and staff who graciously allowed us to take up space in their areas and gave lots of encouragement along the way, the Cub Council who helped display artwork, volunteers who spent hours and hours of their time displaying student artwork, to Ms. Cook and Mrs. Swiatek for always supporting the event!
My hope for this year's event was to highlight and showcase how students moved through the creative process during our Heroes unit. I hope you were able to read 3rd, 4th and 5th graders artist statements which were displayed next to their projects. There is so much meaning behind the choices they made when creating their artwork. My focus in the art room is process over product. Oftentimes the process, what students learn along the way is more valuable and important than the final product they end up creating. Thanks again KLO community for your support!
-Ms. Jurek
I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the parents, students and volunteers who made the Spring Book Fair a huge success. A big thank you goes out to all the families who attended the fair. Your participation not only helps provide students with new books to enjoy, but also continues to make a difference in fostering our students' love of reading. To our amazing volunteers, your time and dedication were invaluable in helping everything run smoothly. I am so grateful for your efforts and commitment. The Book Fair would not be possible without volunteers, so thank you. Also I want to make everyone aware of the good things that come from the sales of our Book Fairs. At Kloefkorn, we use all the money earned at the Book Fair to purchase books directly for students. Over the last year we have specifically used that money to purchase a book for every student at our sister school, Riley Elementary School, to be able to take home for the summer. We will be able to do that again for them this summer as well. In addition, we also were able to have all the teachers here at Kloefkorn fill out a wish list of books that they would like for their classroom and purchase those for them. On average that was about 15-18 new books per classroom. This was something not only the teachers loved and appreciated but the students were very excited about. Please know that the money from the sales of our Book Fairs are being used for many great things and we are so grateful! We are truly so fortunate here at Kloefkorn to have such a supportive and engaged community. I look forward to many more opportunities to come together and celebrate the joy of reading inside and outside of the classroom. Thank you again for making this event a success, I could not have done it without you all.
When you join PTO, you make a difference in your child's education! Make sure to join PTO for the 2025-2026 school year. Dues are only $15 and help us meet the needs of all our students! The student directory is also available online for paid members.
Sign up at kloefkornpto.ptboard.com.
The student directory is managed by our PTO as a service to our families. We only provide the student directory to paid PTO members. You can do this on the Forms & Payments page of our website and then find the PTO Membership Form on the left hand menu. Membership is for the current school year and costs $15 per family annually. (Note: our website will roll over to the next school year in July and the directory will not be available after that time.)
The $15 annual membership fee helps support various school programs and staff appreciation efforts. The directory is kept behind a membership to protect the privacy and contact information of our families, and it provides digital access (email and phone) which can help families avoid the costs of physical mail.
Most importantly, please know that we never want a financial barrier to prevent a family from participating in our school community. If the membership fee is a hardship for your family, we have a process in place to accommodate those who need assistance. Please feel free to respond directly to this email, and we will ensure you have the access you need.
Once membership dues have been paid, you will have access to the directory. The directory can be found using the left hand menu of our website, and click on the 'Student Directory' tab. The directory is uploaded each year in the fall, and new students are not necessarily added to the directory, unless their parent/guardian adds them directly.
This year we are trying out a new system of volunteering for the events put on by the PTO. Each grade will be in charge of hosting an event. Don’t worry, you will not be alone! Each event will be led by a PTO board member. If you are unable to help out with your child’s grade’s event, help is welcome from anyone who would like to join in for any of the events. Below are the PTO events this year and their corresponding host grade:
Movie Night – October 17 – 1st Grade
GLOW Dance – April 10 – 2nd Grade - NEXT EVENTS
Book Fair – March 24 & 26 – 3rd Grade
Art Night – March 26 – 4th Grade
