Happy Winter Break, Kloefkorn Families!
As we wrap up our first semester, we want to celebrate all that our Cubs have accomplished. It has been a semester full of progress and pride.
We also had so much fun during our Winter Break Countdown week! The themed days, assemblies, and shared smiles brought extra joy to our halls and made the final days of the semester especially memorable.
Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and trust—it truly makes a difference. We are so grateful for the incredible community that surrounds our school.
Traffic Loop Reminder message, listen HERE.

Special Attendance Permits
Fifth grade families interested in attending a middle school outside their home attendance area may submit applications for special attendance permits. Please submit permits by January 5th. If your address has changed from what the school has on file, please make sure we have your updated address. Applications are available HERE. To find your child's middle school based on your home boundary address, search HERE.
Rules of the Road
It is important that we all do our part in keeping students safe during busy traffic times. To listen to our traffic loop reminder message, click HERE.
If using the front drive thru loop, please be sure to pull all the way forward and remain in the car. Students should exit from the passenger side of the car.
Staff will guide students into the school building and will help students locate their car in the loop.
Be cautious of the many cross walks around the school property.
The back parking lot is designated for busing transportation. This is not a space for curbside dropoff/pick up. To help maintain safety with restricted visability, if dropping/picking students up from Door 5, please walk your child to and from the supervised crosswalk.
If parking on the street or waiting for the loop, be courteous of keeping neighboring driveways open and unblocked.
Crosswalk Safety Reminder
To improve visibility and create a safer space for both pedestrians and drivers, we've designated a 'NO PARKING ZONE' around the crosswalk on Glass Ridge Drive. Please avoid parking in the area marked by the orange flags attached to the street signs. This space is meant to keep sight lines clear and ensure a smooth flow of traffic during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our Cubs safe.
Lost & Found
Missing a lunch box, water bottle, sweatshirt or coat? Check the lost and found; it is OVERFLOWING! Please remind your children to take a look and claim anything that belongs to them. All unclaimed items will be donated or discarded after December 29th. Adding a label to coats and hats could help return lost items.
Dressing for Winter
We have now entered the time of year where temperatures can fluctuate greatly. It's important for our students to dress for the weather. The temperature and weather conditions are the determining factor on inside or outside recess. Have your student dress in layers with hats, gloves and warm coats so we can be outside as much as possible. Thanks for your help!

As winter brings cozy sweaters and holiday cheer, it also brings an increase in seasonal illnesses. January is the peak season for illnesses. We appreciate all of your help in keeping students and staff healthy so everyone can learn and play their best!
🤒Keeping sick children home helps them recover faster and prevents the spread of germs to classmates, teachers and staff. Please keep your student home if they have any of the following:
Fever
Vomiting or diarrhea
Pink/red eye(s) with drainage or crusting
A persistent cough
🧼Handwashing makes a BIG difference! Good handwashing is one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of illness. Please help your student learn and practice thorough handwashing at home. Remind your student to wash their hands well before eating, after using the restroom, after coughing or sneezing and when they return home from school! Clean hands protect everyone!
☀️IMPORTANCE OF FRESH AIR
Fresh air is a natural brain booster: Just 15 minutes of outdoor time can reduce mental fatigue and improve a student’s concentration and focus on schoolwork.
Enhances Immune Function: Breathing fresh outdoor air provides higher oxygen levels that fuel strong lung function and helps to strengthen the body’s natural immune defenses.
🧤Students go outside during the school day, most days. Please encourage your student to wear a coat, gloves, boots, etc if the weather is chilly. School Administration will determine if the weather is too cold for students to be
outside.
As always, thank you for partnering with us to make our school a healthy and happy place this winter!
💙Ms. Kelsey

There haven’t been many changes in groups or lessons since the last Chronicle was sent out! Most grade levels wrapped up with their classroom lesson last week, which were based on teacher observations regarding skills students were working on or could use reminders for.
Kindergarten focused on positive choices and negative choices, first and second grades discussed the different between tattling and reporting, third grade reviewed kindness and the importance of including others, fourth graders talked about following directions quickly and exactly and the impact it has on ourselves and others, and fifth grade students discussed integrity and taking ownership for our words and actions.
When we talk about each of these skills, we discuss how showing this skill has a positive impact on ourselves, our classroom, and our community, as well as how this will help students be prepared for their future!
Shorter days, colder weather, a long break, and different routines can sometimes make feelings feel extra big and throw us off - kiddos and adults! I hope this is a time you are able to slow down and am wishing our cub families a relaxing and joyful winter break.
As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns about your student, or if your family needs help accessing support or resources.

Happy reading!
Do you feel like your kids spend too much time on their devices? Did you know that not all screen time is created equal? There's a difference between active screen time (creating or engaging with content in meaningful ways) and passive screen time (simply consuming entertainment).
It's never too late to create a balanced plan together - one that includes both active and passive screen time, as well as offline activities. Here are some conversation starters to help you get started:
What do you enjoy doing online? What do you enjoy doing offline?
What are you missing out on when you are online?
Where can we set up screen-free zones in our home?
What activities or hobbies could you try while offline?

We will post your child's report card in ParentVUE soon after January 15, 2026. Each student will also receive a printed copy of the report card. ParentVUE is used by families across Lincoln Public Schools to quickly access informatiion like attendance and report cards. If you need a ParentVUE account, please contact Rose in Kloefkorn's office for assistance.
Parents/Guardians can easily send messages to their student's teachers from within ParentVUE. Clicking on the small "envelope" button next to a teacher's (or other staff member's) name anywhere within the platrorm (e.g., Current Schedule, School Information, Grade Book, etc.) will begin a draft message within Messages/Synergy Mail. More information about messaging your student's teachers can be found on the LPS ParentVUE Quick Guide.
This time of year often brings questions about whether students are allowed to bring/use personal computing devices at school. Where connecting to the LPS network and/or completing school work is concerned, the answer is "no". There are a number of reasons for this, but you should be aware that the LPS Chromebook comes with limits on the web sites that can be visited and the applications that can be accessed. You can support teachers' efforts in managing a consisten learning environment by encouraging your student to use the district-issued Chromebook for all school work.
Email board@kloefkornpto.org if you have any questions, or visit our website www.kloefkornpto.ptboard.com/home for more information regarding what the PTO is up to.
