Hello, Kloefkorn Families!
We need your help with keeping our drop-off and arrival times running safely and smoothly. Please use the link below for detailed directions on our current procedures. You’ll also find a visual of the traffic loop and no-parking zones, which has also been printed and will be sent home with each child.
Be sure to share these directions with any adult who helps with drop-off or pick-up.
Traffic Loop Reminder message, listen HERE.
Thank you for keeping our Cub Community safe! 🐾
We are starting a busy time of year! Please keep an eye out for evening student concerts, spirit days, and special events taking place in the classroom. There is a lot of learning and fun to be had this next month! Special note: Next week we will have classroom fall parties. SkinnyPop Original Popcorn will be the provided snack. If your child(ren) needs an alternative snack, please email me.

Rules of the Road
It is important that we all do our part in keeping students safe during busy traffic times. To listen to our traffic loop reminder message, click HERE.
If using the front drive thru loop, please be sure to pull all the way forward and remain in the car. Students should exit from the passenger side of the car.
Staff will guide students into the school building and will help students locate their car in the loop.
Be cautious of the many cross walks around the school property.
The back parking lot is designated for busing transportation. This is not a space for curbside dropoff/pick up. To help maintain safety with restricted visability, if dropping/picking students up from Door 5, please walk your child to and from the supervised crosswalk.
If parking on the street or waiting for the loop, be courteous of keeping neighboring driveways open and unblocked.
Crosswalk Safety Reminder
To improve visibility and create a safer space for both pedestrians and drivers, we've designated a 'NO PARKING ZONE' around the crosswalk on Glass Ridge Drive. Please avoid parking in the area marked by the orange flags attached to the street signs. This space is meant to keep sight lines clear and ensure a smooth flow of traffic during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our Cubs safe.
Lost & Found
Our lost and found area is OVERFLOWING! We have been collecting many coats, sweatshirts, hats, mittens and gloves. Please remind your children to take a look and claim anything that belongs to them. At the end of the semester, we'll donate all unclaimed items to a local charity. Adding a label to coats and hats could help return lost items.
Dressing for Winter
We have now entered the time of year where temperatures can fluctuate greatly. It's important for our students to dress for the weather. The temperature and weather conditions are the determining factor on inside or outside recess. Have your student dress in layers with hats, gloves and warm coats so we can be outside as much as possible. Thanks for your help!

Friday Pencil Winners
Sick season has started to show its face in Nebraska! Please make sure to review with your student the importance of good (and frequent) handwashing and covering their coughs! We give reminders about both here at school, but we know reinforcement at home is very helpful. Our goal is to keep all students healthy and ready to learn!
Just a few reminders on medications that have popped up over the last few weeks:
All medications are required to be kept in the health office during the school day, and all medications require a signed parent consent form (linked here) to be administered at school. This includes cough drops.
For all medications other than cough drops (including over the counter medications such as cough syrup), a doctor’s note is also required in order to be administered at school.
For safety reasons, medications must be sent to school in their original packaging/container (with the exception of a few cough drops in a baggie, as long as they are still wrapped).
Please supply medications that can be kept here at school for extended periods of time. Being the only staff member in the health office each day, it is just not possible for me to be able to run medications that need to go home every day to classrooms at the end of each day. If this is not a possibility (for example, if your doctor will only prescribe one supply of a prescription) you or your student will be responsible to come to the health office at the end of each day by 3:30 to pick it up and then to drop it off again the next morning. Most prescribers are aware that this is how medication at school is handled, and will prescribe 2 separate supplies for this reason if asked!
Thank you! -Kelsey Jaacks, RN, BSN
It has been such a great week returning from maternity leave and seeing my favorite cubs again! 💙
Classroom lessons currently being taught were based on teacher observations and what each grade level has been working on or needing reminders for…
Kindergarten → Positive choices + Negative choices
First → Tattle or Report
Second → Tattle or Report
Third → Following directions - quickly and exactly
Fourth → Following directions - quickly and exactly
Fifth → Integrity + Ownership
When we talk about each of these skills, we discuss how showing this skill has a positive impact on ourselves, our classroom, and our community, as well as how this will help students be prepared for their future!
This stretch can be a hard time of the year for many reasons. Students are settled into their classrooms, there may be conflict with friends, anticipation for exciting events coming up, and sometimes the uncertainty of it all as well. Always know you can reach out - I would love to have a conversation and support your student or family in any way that I can.

Are you looking for books with diverse characters and themes? MOSAIC is an annual collection of high-interest diverse books for preschool through high school students reviewed by LPS librarians and educators.
Look for the MOSAIC Multicultural Book Display link on your school library website.
Browse the collection and borrow the eBooks or audiobooks.
Want a print copy of a book? Ask your school librarian!
Would you like to have a conversation with your student about staying safe online? Here are some questions to get the conversation started:
What information should we share with others online and what information should we avoid sharing online (address, phone number, passwords, and other personal information)?
What websites should we use when we go online?
What are the terms of service and age limits for the apps you are using?
How can you protect your online reputation?

Families might notice when they launch and sign in to the ParentVue/StudentVUE apps on a mobile device, it may ask you if you would like to download the new app. You should not be alarmed. The company is rolling out new ParentVUE and StudentVUE apps, instead of updating the old. Installing the new app is not a requirement at this time, but will be at some point. Images from an iPhone with ParentVUE installed are pictured.
This time of year often brings questions about whether students are allowed to bring/use personal computing devices at school. Where connecting to the LPS network and/or completing school work is concerned, the answer is "no". There are a number of reasons for this, but you should be aware that the LPS Chromebook comes with limits on the web sites that can be visited and the applications that can be accessed. You can support teachers' efforts in managing a consisten learning environment by encouraging your student to use the district-issued Chromebook for all school work.
Email board@kloefkornpto.org if you have any questions, or visit our website www.kloefkornpto.ptboard.com/home for more information regarding what the PTO is up to.
