Hello, Kloefkorn Community!
We’re excited to share a snapshot of our students’ amazing growth and success so far this year!
🎉 Celebrating Quarter 1 Success! 🎉
➕📏 93% of students are meeting grade-level expectations in Math!
📚✨ 95% of students are meeting grade-level expectations in Reading!
🏫👏 91% of students have maintained strong attendance, missing fewer than 10% or 4 days!
This year, our school wide goal focuses on reading fluency, and we’re already seeing our Cubs’ efforts pay off! You can help at home by encouraging your student to read and re-read favorite books, poems, or passages—it’s one of the best ways to build confidence and skill.
These accomplishments reflect the dedication of our students, the hard work of our staff, and the incredible support from our families. The partnership between home and school truly makes a difference—thank you for helping our Cubs grow and thrive! 💛🐾

Lost & Found
Our lost and found area is OVERFLOWING! We have been collecting many coates, sweatshirts, hats, mittens and gloves. Please remind your children to take a look and claim anything that belongs to them. At the end of the semester, we'll donate all unclaimed items to a local chairty. Adding a label to coats and hats could help return lost items.
Kindergarten Independent Work Time Activities
Our kindergarten teachers are on a mission to make learning fun! They're building strong foundations in reading and math through hands-on games and engaging activities that students can explore on their own while teachers work in small groups. Your donation will help all three kindergarten classrooms bring phonics, numbers 1-20, addition and subtraction to life in exciting, meaningful ways.

Sick season has started to show its face in Nebraska! Please make sure to review with your student the importance of good (and frequent) handwashing and covering their coughs! We give reminders about both here at school, but we know reinforcement at home is very helpful. Our goal is to keep all students healthy and ready to learn!
Just a few reminders on medications that have popped up over the last few weeks:
All medications are required to be kept in the health office during the school day, and all medications require a signed parent consent form (linked here) to be administered at school. This includes cough drops.
For all medications other than cough drops (including over the counter medications such as cough syrup), a doctor’s note is also required in order to be administered at school.
For safety reasons, medications must be sent to school in their original packaging/container (with the exception of a few cough drops in a baggie, as long as they are still wrapped).
Please supply medications that can be kept here at school for extended periods of time. Being the only staff member in the health office each day, it is just not possible for me to be able to run medications that need to go home every day to classrooms at the end of each day. If this is not a possibility (for example, if your doctor will only prescribe one supply of a prescription) you or your student will be responsible to come to the health office at the end of each day by 3:30 to pick it up and then to drop it off again the next morning. Most prescribers are aware that this is how medication at school is handled, and will prescribe 2 separate supplies for this reason if asked!
Thank you! -Kelsey Jaacks, RN, BSN
Hi Kloefkorn families!
We have started off 2nd quarter strong by focusing on what makes us unique and understanding that it is ok to be different and still work together. The students have had the opportunities to think about what makes themselves unique, but also tell fellow Cubs something unique about them. It’s been so great seeing the students smile when they hear these kind things about them. We are also ending our bullying month and have discussed that bullying is not ok just because someone is different.
In November, our lessons will discuss taking responsibility for our own actions and learning what to do if someone else is making bad choices. I have so many fun activities for these!
Exciting news! Mrs. Jones will be returning from maternity leaving the week of November 17. I’m sure the students will be so excited to see her and hear all about her new baby!
Thank you for welcoming me into your school! Spending my days with your kiddos and the amazing staff here have truly been such a blessing to me and I’m so grateful!

Our students are learning about online communication and etiquette. Here are some prompts to help you:
What do you like to do online? What are some positive ways you use technology?
How do you use good manners online?
What is the difference between face-to-face and online conversations? When would it be better to talk to someone in person rather than texting or posting something online?
Why should you ask permission before posting a photo or video of someone else online?
How do you avoid other online distractions (games, browsing other websites, etc.) while doing schoolwork online?

LPS believes that effective instruction can and should include the appropriate use of instructional technology to support learning. To that end, a District Instructional Technology Tool (ITT) Committee works to identify ITTs that are safe for student use, support district learning goals, and encourage innovative teaching and learning. All reviewed ITs are cataloged in the LPS ITT Matrix.
The most frequently used, approved, and supported ITTs are made available to students and staff in the LPS Portal. Students access their LPS Portal by clicking the 'HOME' button on their Chromebook.
Need a conversation starter with your student? Ask them for a tour of their LPS Portal and which ITTs they're currently using in class.

General Meeting: Monday, November 3
Come join us in the media center at 7pm. We will discuss past events and plan upcoming events for student enrichment and community benefit.
Fall Room Parties: Tuesday, November 25
It’s time for the Fall Classroom Parties and Kloefkorn needs your help! PTO will provide a snack, but we need your help in the classroom to come up with a craft or games for the kids. Sign up to volunteer HERE. Each party works best with at least 3 volunteers. If your child's classroom fills up and you'd still like to volunteer, please email Heather Triggs (Heather_triggs@yahoo.com) and she can help assign you an open classroom. The students look forward to this every year so your support is so appreciated! Thank you!
Spiritwear Delivery
Our Spiritwear is done! We are planning to send items home with your student the week of November 3-7. Be on the lookout for these items in backpacks. If you do not want the items to go home with students, please email Leticia (latkins@lps.org) at the school office.
Book Fair
The PTO would like to send a huge thank you to everyone who volunteered at the Book Fair and for those who attended. It was very successful! We were even able to donate some Scholastic Dollars to our sister school, Riley Elementary.
Movie Night was a SUCCESS!
Thanks to everyone who came out for our annual Movie Night. The kids had a blast! Much sugar and fun was had - and there was even a small side of movie watching! 😜
Cub Clubs are HERE!
Our clubs are well underway, and the kids are so excited! Please be respectful of our staff's time and be prompt in picking up your student(s). For the weekly schedule, please see our announcement on the PTO website.
Join the PTO today!
When you join PTO, you make a difference in your child's education! Make sure to join PTO for the 2025-2026 school year. Dues are only $15 and help us meet the needs of all our students! The student directory is also available online for paid members.

PTO Events
This year we are trying out a new system of volunteering for the events put on by the PTO. Each grade will be in charge of hosting an event. Don’t worry, you will not be alone! Each event will be led by a PTO board member. If you are unable to help out with your child’s grade’s event, help is welcome from anyone who would like to join in for any of the events. Below are the PTO events this year and their corresponding host grade:
