Hello Mama and Papa Bears!
February has been a month of celebration at Kloefkorn! Our Cubs worked hard to earn their Bronze, Silver, and Gold student selected prizes through positive words, strong choices, and actions that strengthen our school community. It has been so fun to recognize their efforts and celebrate the impact they make each day.
We have also loved celebrating the many languages that make up our Kloefkorn family. Sharing multicultural greetings has been a powerful reminder that while we may come from different circles, we are united as one community—truly Connected in Every Circle.
We are incredibly thankful for our families and the partnership we share. An outstanding 90% of families scheduled a Parent/Teacher Conference to discuss the progress of our shared scholars. That level of engagement speaks volumes about the commitment we have—together—to helping every Cub grow and thrive.
Thank you for being such an important part of our community. 💛🐾
♥ Ms. Cook

Do you have a child - or do you know of a child - that will start kindergarten next year? Lincoln Public Schools is now accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2026-2027 school year.
Parents of children turning five years of age on or before July 31, 2026 can go to lps.org and click on the red “Enroll Your Student” button. Here you will also find all the information necessary for registering, the required documents needed and answers to frequently asked questions.
For children who turn five between August 1 and October 15, parents may request an assessment for their child to receive a waiver to attend school early. That information is also located on the kindergarten registration page.
Parents who do not have access to the online registration, or wish to register their child in person, should contact their attendance area elementary school as soon as possible. Questions about kindergarten registration should also be directed to the child's attendance area school.
For more information about kindergarten registration and assessment testing for incoming students, please go to: https://home.lps.org/studentservices/kindergarten-registration-assessment/.
Winter MAP Math test results are now available in Synergy! Parents and students can look at scores by Accessing Student District and State Scores Through ParentVUE. For directions on how to view these, please click HERE.
We began taking preschool applications for 2026-27 on January 2, 2026. Children who will be three as of July 31, 2026 and not yet five, and reside within the Lincoln Public Schools boundaries are eligible to be considered for preschool. Information about the preschool application process is available on our website at https://home.lps.org/earlychildhood/preschool-application/.

All classes are ending the quarter with lessons unique to grade level needs!
Kindergarten classroom lessons have focused on friendship - what it means to be a friend, and what good friends do.
First-Third grades have been talking about growth mindset or “Bubblegum Brain” and why it’s important to keep trying even when things are hard, as well as giving their best effort even if it’s not their favorite activity.
Fourth grade and Fifth grade lessons have focused on self-worth. In the month of February, with Valentine’s Day, we talk a lot about showing kindness to others, and in this lesson, we talk about how it’s just as important to show kindness to ourselves.
If you have any questions, concerns, or are hopeful for resources or support for your family or student - I am at Kloefkorn every day and would love to have a conversation with you.

At LPS we teach students that terms of service agreements are important and have real-world implications. Topics for a family discussion might include:
What are terms of service agreements? Rules you must follow when using an app or digital tool.
Why do terms of service matter? Many apps have age limits. Using one you're too young for could get your account deleted, expose you to unsafe or inappropriate content, or break the app’s rules.
LPS has procedures in place to ensure the apps and websites students are using adhere to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
Want ideas for supporting digital citizenship in your home? Follow your school, LPS Library Services, or #lpsdigcit on social media to get weekly tips. Find additional digital citizenship tips on our website: Library Services Digital Citizenship Tips

It's said a body needs 8 hours of sleep every night. That's especially true during the testing season. Student Chromebooks also need a good night of charging. Please help your student's remember to bring their Chromebooks fully charged every day.
LPS cares deeply about protecting students DIGITALLY. We go to great lenghts to ensure that your child's digital interactions are safe and appropriate, that the data we collect about them is secure, and that we are guiding them to make good digital decisions. Because these efforts are less visible than our physical security efforts, we have assembled this resource to shine light on these important measures that are happening in LPS every day: LPS Computing Services Data Privacy

The PTO would like to send a big THANK YOU to all the parents who volunteered for the spring parties. The kids had a blast with their crafts and the games. We could not do the parties without your help and the students look forward to them every year. Kloefkorn parents are the best!
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Science Fair this year. We continue to be amazed by the creativity, curiosity, and ingenuity of these incredible kids here at Kloefkorn. And thank you to all those who came out to support our young scientists!

Our GLOW Dance was postponed...again. But not to worry! The party is still on! We've picked a new date to get our GLOW on. Mark your calendars, the new (and final) date is Friday, April 10th from 6-7pm. We can't wait to see everyone in their brightest neon gear next month!
Be on the lookout for further information regarding our Earth Day and Color Run event.
When you join PTO, you make a difference in your child's education! Make sure to join PTO for the 2025-2026 school year. Dues are only $15 and help us meet the needs of all our students! The student directory is also available online for paid members.
Sign up at kloefkornpto.ptboard.com.
The student directory is managed by our PTO as a service to our families. We only provide the student directory to paid PTO members. You can do this on the Forms & Payments page of our website and then find the PTO Membership Form on the left hand menu. Membership is for the current school year and costs $15 per family annually. (Note: our website will roll over to the next school year in July and the directory will not be available after that time.)
The $15 annual membership fee helps support various school programs and staff appreciation efforts. The directory is kept behind a membership to protect the privacy and contact information of our families, and it provides digital access (email and phone) which can help families avoid the costs of physical mail.
Most importantly, please know that we never want a financial barrier to prevent a family from participating in our school community. If the membership fee is a hardship for your family, we have a process in place to accommodate those who need assistance. Please feel free to respond directly to this email, and we will ensure you have the access you need.
Once membership dues have been paid, you will have access to the directory. The directory can be found using the left hand menu of our website, and click on the 'Student Directory' tab. The directory is uploaded each year in the fall, and new students are not necessarily added to the directory, unless their parent/guardian adds them directly.
This year we are trying out a new system of volunteering for the events put on by the PTO. Each grade will be in charge of hosting an event. Don’t worry, you will not be alone! Each event will be led by a PTO board member. If you are unable to help out with your child’s grade’s event, help is welcome from anyone who would like to join in for any of the events. Below are the PTO events this year and their corresponding host grade:
Movie Night – October 17 – 1st Grade
GLOW Dance – April 10 – 2nd Grade
Book Fair – March 24 & 26 – 3rd Grade - NEXT EVENT
Art Night – March 26 – 4th Grade - NEXT EVENT
Earth Night/Color Run – April 24 – K & 5th Grade
Please see the announcement on our PTO website regarding details and which Board Member will be leading your event.
