The counselors at Irving Middle School are an integral part of each child’s educational and personal-social development. The counseling program has a well defined curriculum with three methods of delivery: classroom lessons, small group facilitation, and individual counseling. In order to meet the needs of all students, counselors work closely with teachers, students, parents, staff, administration, and community agencies for the purpose of staying informed of students’ strengths and needs.
The counselors provide consistency by moving with their assigned class of students through their three years at Irving. Students may access their counselor by requesting an appointment through their Counselor’s Google calendar. Counselors also depend on administrators, teachers, and parents to share with them student concerns. As concerns and questions arise, parents are encouraged to contact their child’s counselor at 402-436-1214 ext 3.
School social workers strive to connect the school, home and community to support students. Social workers are trained mental health professionals who can assist with mental health, behavioral and attendance concerns as well as other barriers to success. There are over 45 school social workers employed by LPS to support each elementary, middle, and high school building. The counselors provide consistency by moving with their assigned class of students through their three years at Irving. Students may access their school social worker by visiting the Counseling Center and requesting an appointment. If parents or guardians have an questions or concerns, please reach out to Makenzie.
Our school social work team is always watching for sources of help for our families. If you are stressed or struggling, shoot me an email, and we can figure out what solutions might be out there.
We’re all in this together!

School registrars manage the essential academic and demographic data for students in grades 6 through 8. Their primary responsibilities include processing new student enrollments and withdrawals, maintaining accurate grade records and coordinating student schedules with school counselors. Registrars secure student records in compliance with FERPA privacy standards. They also serve as the main contact point for schools, families and students regarding registration, records, enrollment - as well as the first contact for connecting with the social worker or a school counselor.
Irving's school registrar, Christina Day, is a valuable member of the Counseling Center and creates a space for students to feel safe and heard. Christina develops positive relationships with students and serves as a trusted adult for many of our students. Christina is also a mentor with TeamMates.
