German I - Rosebaugh
We will be learning to read analog clocks and tell time. There will be a test on October 6 and 7 about school. It will include reading about school schedules and preferences, as well as writing about their own class schedule, who their teachers are, when and where the classes are, what is needed for class.
Publications - Tobey
Students in Publications 8 are learning the ins and outs of the online program we use to create the yearbook! Within the program, called YB360, students learn how to add text, shapes, photos, graphics, and a multitude of customization options. Within the next couple of weeks, students will be creating actual spreads for the yearbook. I am looking forward to seeing them use the technical skills to expand their creativity! More opportunities to take photographs will present themself as the semester progresses, as well.
Course 3 Math - Loshbaugh & Davenport
We took our Chapter 2 Test and our Chapter 1 Retention test this week. Next week, we will begin Unit 3A, which focuses on understanding variables and recognizing the connection between Graphs and Equations. The Chapter 3 Test is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4 with the Chapter 2 Retention on Wednesday, November 5.
Algebra Diff - Loshbaugh & Davenport
We will start Chapter 3 next week. Chapter 3 dives into simplifying expressions (especially with exponents), solving more complex equations, and multiplying binomials with algebra tiles. The Chapter 3 Test is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, with Chapter 2 Retention on Thursday, October 30.
Geometry Diff - Davenport
We took our Chapter 2 and Chapter 1 Retention Tests this week. We will begin Chapter 3 next week. Chapter 3 dives into similarity properties AND justifications for those properties. The Chapter 3 Test is scheduled for Thursday, October 23 with Chapter 2 Retention on Friday, October 24.
Social Studies - Davison
Davison Social Studies has just completed their DCA 1 related to the Middle Passage of the Slave Trade. Those grades are slowly going into the gradebook, and we are moving on to Unit 3: American Revolution. We are starting with the French and Indian War, and other aspects that led to the Revolutionary War, and the creation of the United States. Students will have their second DCA after fall break about the Revolutionary War, specifically about the Stamp Act and the Boston Massacre.
Social Studies - Bayne
I was out for the last week, but the kids worked on causes of the American Revolution such as the Boston Massacre, Tea Party, Stamp Act and Intolerable Acts. Next week we will take our second District Common Assessment already. It deals with different perspectives on what happened in the Boston Massacre. They are to identify a patriot and loyalist perspective and also bring in outside information (extratextual historical) knowledge to explain themselves.
Spanish - Kapustka & Zetterman
Students will have an assessment over Unit B next week! The assessments will include a speaking, reading and writing test. In this unit, we learned how to express likes and dislikes with food and activities.
