In order to test my final lamp design the first thing I did was run some tests. For example, In order to know that all of the pieces of wood were stuck on properly I did things such as flipping the lamp upside down, shaking the lamp, shaking the lamp upside down, and so on. Another thing I did to test my final lamp design is that I plugged an unplugged the outlet multiple times to check for the stability and durability of the light bulb. The materials I used in total for making the lamp were pieces of wood, stringy wood, light bulb, bamboo, paint, and other materials that are similar to wood, like baskets. A feedback I got from one of my friends was to work on the painting better.
The resources I used to complete my design were of course online websites that I used to research on making sure there wouldn’t be any safety hazards with the lamp. I searched on pinterest the different lamp designs only using natural resources and I chose the one that caught my eyes the most. How the design I found on pinterest caught my attention was because the lamp photo was really bright and had multiple colors. I think another reason why I chose what I chose is because I wanted to create something pretty and I knew that if I searched up “lamps with using natural resources” only ugly designs would pop up so instead I just searched up lamp designs and chose what caught my eye.
I spent so much time on the process of making the lamp designs that I had so little and limited time to work on the criteria A, B, and C. I also ran out of time for doing Criterion D. I think I used 95% of my time making my lamp whole I used 5% working on the different criterias. The reason I did this is because I knew that if I finished my lamp design it would have been easier for me on working on the documents. I think my lamp design was really successful for criterion B. This is because the ACCESS FM I chose for my lamp was aesthetics, cost, and customer. For customer, I was not able to present so I could not judge it off that but for aesthetics I was able to make it the way I want it.
The skills I developed were cutting skills, assembling parts, self management skills, and designing skills. This is because I had to use a saw to cut off all of my wooden pieces for the lamp. I was able to assemble all of the pieces that I made for the lamp using nails, hammers, and so on. In order to not hurt myself when I was using all the dangerous materials I needed to use my self management skills. I can improve these skills by continuing to make designs and designing multiple things. Next year in class I can also make and create more stuff.
My lamp design can impact my target audience because my lamp is very “vintage” and I think it would fit into a old persons house or a cabin. The target audience could benefit my lamp design by giving me feedback on how to improve my design or ask me questions which could cause me to find out things I didn’t know myself. This lamp is a household item that can be placed anywhere. Mostly living rooms or bedside tables.
