I tested my final design of my jellyfish lamp by explaining what my lamp is first of all and also the steps I did to make this so that the audience knows more about my lamp design and how it works. The materials I used for my lamp during the process were all eco-friendly materials and most of my material used was wood. One feedback I received was that I should explain the challenges and how I overcame them a little more clearly or specifically.
The time and effort I have put into my jellyfish lamp design is a lot of time considering the stingers. There are at least 20 stingers on the jellyfish which makes my lamp a little more special than other people that are also doing the jellyfish lamp. My lamp took at least 2 - 3 weeks to complete the whole thing
The first step of how I created my final lamp design is to write some ideas on a paper and choose one which would be the most interesting to me. After writing more than ten the second thing I did was to pick out 3 ideas from all the ideas so that I get closer to my final design. Then I chose one design that I wanted to do and I wrote succes criterias for the lamp design and materials I would be using etc… after all of that I started creating the solution which ended up with a jellyfish as my final lamp.
Four skills that I have learned during this unit were to know how to use the saw correctly and safely to cut wood efficiently and safely. The second skill I learned is to assemble an electrical circuit by putting the parts together like the wires etc… The third skill that I have learned is the importance of the sizes of things, what I mean by this is that it would look excellent if my jellyfish stingers were not equally long but if it is equally long it would be a bit ugly, or boring. The fourth skill I learned is to use basic materials efficiently and well for example glue guns, nails, and more.
The 4 challenges I have encountered was to glue the stringers for the jellyfish, assembling an electrical circuit, assembling and glueing all parts and making the base of my jellyfish. This is all mostly because that I don't have that much experience on these type of things or it took me a long time to finish it.
I can improve my lamp by painting my lamp design next time so that it becomes more aesthetic and people can also recognize my lamp as it is a jellyfish. This can impact my lamp by a lot as well because my lamp would be far better with painting and the people would also like it more.
