When I tested my lamp it worked perfectly; the materials I used were: a basket, bamboo, wires, light bulb, and wood. The feedback I got was that my lamp was very nice and according to Jua, “It is giving cottage core!” Once I tested my lamp I realized I had no switch and that was a disadvantage to my lamp, but overall my lamp worked fine.
The one thing interesting about this design to me is that the lamp kind of looked like a moon which really caught my eye. I also really liked the sleek, lantern look the lamp had, it looks very cool to me. One more thing interesting about the lamp was that the stand of the lamp it doesn't really show in the dark and it looks like the lamp-shade is floating somehow.
We have spent lots of time working on the different criterias but we have spent more time making the lamps. We spent lots of time working on the different criterias because of all the questions and the planning of our lamps. We spent the most time on our lamps because there were just so many people in our class and most of us needed help with cutting, improving and more. Mr. Saclo couldn't help all of us at once so we took even longer with our actual lamps.
The first step of making my lamp was planning out what it looks like and choosing the designs I wanted, next was planning what materials we needed for example, bamboo, straw etc. Next step was filling out all the criterias (A, B, C, D), then after that we started to work on our lamps and started to gather our materials. Making our actual lamp was the longest and the most challenging process out of all the steps in my opinion.
I have developed thinking, research, time management, and communications skills. I developed my thinking skills by thinking about new ways to improve my lamp. I developed my research skills by researching different lamps and also learning new ways to work with wood. I developed my time management by getting my lamp done in time with the help of Mr. Saclo. I developed my communication by asking others how I can develop my lamp and also getting help from others.
I can improve more by learning more things, being better with my time, asking for help more and of course thinking of new ideas and more.
My first challenge was doing the wires/assembling the electric circuit, it was very hard working with the wires because it was my first time. My second challenge was figuring out what materials I would need, most of my classmates needed the same materials I needed so it was hard to find the materials. My third challenge was cutting the wood because it was my first time using a saw and it was very hard to cut the wood. My fourth and final challenge was how I would make my lamp stand, it was hard because my lamp kept falling down.
I feel like I could improve my lampshade by making it more secure and also more prettier because, my lampshade had a bit broken and like almost coming apart. Another my I could improve is where I would place my wiring because the wires of my lamp was kind of all over the place, which I feel like I could improve if I had more time .
