This Quick-start guide will help you to find an assessment in Performance Matters, administer it to your students, and view the results afterwards.

How to Find a Test

There are a number of ways to find ready made assessments in Performance Matters. Below are a couple of options.

  1. From the MyDashboard screen, select the magnifying glass icon on the top right in the blue taskbar.
  2. Insert your cursor in the Search bar and begin typing the name of the test you would like to access. If you know the exact name of the test, it should appear first in the list of tests below the search bar.
  3. You may also enter key words in the name of the test and filter your results by selecting the check boxes on the left side. Select the box for Assessment Test under Type, then select your grade level. For more on using filters to find tests, see the video below.

How To Find a Test By Standard Using Filters

  1. From the MyDashboard screen, select the magnifying glass icon on the top right in the blue task bar.
  2. On the left side of the screen, select the check box, or filter for Assessment Test , then select your grade level.
  3. Select the check box for your subject (ex. VA.MA for math or VA.SOL.2017.ELA for Reading/English).
  4. Select the down arrows just to the right of your subject to show a drop down menu for the standards, strands and sub-strands. The number in parentheses shows the number of tests that exist which include the standard or strand.
  5. Select the check box next to a strand to view a list of tests that exist for that strand.


How to Administer a Test

The information below will help you to assign and monitor tests in Performance Matters.

How to Administer a Test

  1. From the MyDashboard screen, select Tests from the main menu bar on the top left.
  2. Select OLA Student Admin from the drop-down menu.
  3. Find the test you want to administer by clicking in the Test Title field. You must be administering the test within the testing window date range. Only those tests within the testing window will show up in the list of tests.
  4. Select the first check box next to Student ID to select all students.
  5. Under Choose An Action, select "Release to all students" from the drop-down menu.
  6. Repeat the above steps to assign tests for multiple sections and for multiple classes.

Once you have assigned a test, the word "Assigned" with a yellow star will appear beside each student name.

Student View

Sometimes it is helpful to preview a test to see what it will look like from a student's perspective. The following screenshots and directions will help you accomplish this.

Step #1

Select Tests from the main menu of the MyDashboard screen.


Step #2

Choose Test Center from the drop-down menu.

Step #3

In the test list , select the PLAY button icon to go to OLA Preview mode.

Step #4

Click anywhere in the colored band to go to a preview of the test listed.

Step #5

Select the Next button at the bottom to begin moving through the student view of the test.

Tip: This feature can be useful for projecting a test on a whiteboard to explain test features, give detailed directions, or review test items with students.
