How is the CIP Online PD Site working for you?
The information below will help you to administer assessments that are available to you. The CIP provides formative and benchmark assessments, and you may also search the "community" for assessments other teachers have created. Please be careful with assessments from non-trusted sources as they may not be highly aligned to Virginia's Standards of Learning.
Please be aware that at this time, Mastery Connect only allows for the printing of non-TEI items. For any assessment that includes TEI, those items will not print but the traditional multiple choice items will print.
The information below will help you to create your own assessments from questions that are provided for you in the item banks.
When you create an assessment in MasteryConnect, you will be asked to set the mastery level per standard so that your students' performance can be viewed in your tracker based on your expectations. The Sheet linked below may be useful to you.
The example on the left demonstrates the number of questions a student needs to demonstrate Mastery at a 80% cut score and Near Mastery at a 50% cut score.
Please keep in mind that only whole numbers can be used for mastery levels in MasteryConnect
Opinions vary about which cut scores to use for which mastery levels. If you'd like to use different cut scores, you may make a copy of the Google Sheet linked below and enter your desired cut scores in the green and yellow boxes to determine how many questions to input in the Mastery and Near Mastery boxes in your MC assessment.
Please keep in mind that you cannot edit this Google Sheet without making your own copy.
The image below demonstrates the SOL testing tools available to students per test. It is recommended that we adhere to this as closely as possible when assessing our students formatively and summatively. Linked below are the documents available to students on those particular SOL tests.
If you need any help learning how to take a screenshot, please check out the videos linked below. You'll need to know how to do this to complete the form.
