Once you have installed the Kami extension, ensured that Kami is connected to your Google Drive, and you are familiar with the tools that are available, you are ready to begin editing your first document. If your division subscribes to the paid services that are offered by Kami, you will find that you have Kami integration within Google Classroom.

If your division does not subscribe to the Kami service, you will want to check to see if the Kami extension appears in your Google Classroom to create assignments. If it does appear, please keep in mind that you may not have the option for students to submit assignments in Google Classroom and the grading tools may not be available to you.

Kami is a PDF editor, which means the documents you wish to use in Kami need to be in a PDF format.

If the document you would like to use is already in a PDF format, you are ready to go! If not, please see the directions for the software you are using (i.e. Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc...) to determine how to save these documents in PDF format.

If you are scanning documents such as workbook pages or any other document that you store in a filing cabinet, Kami offers an OCR tool that will convert those documents for you. This tutorial will show you how to convert any document that has been scanned to your Google Drive, or your Windows computer, to use within Kami.

If you already have a PDF document that you would like to use, or you have converted your scanned documents using the OCR tool in Kami, you are ready to begin annotating, or adding features such as highlighting, comments to students, videos, audio directions, using Kami.

Since Kami allows you to annotate documents in both Google Drive and Google Classroom, the following tutorials will walk you through the process of annotating Google Classroom Assignments with Kami and how to annotate directly in Google Drive. It is not necessary to watch both tutorials, but they will both be very helpful in learning the options available to you when using the Kami extension.

Kami also works within the Schoolology and Canvas Platforms. If your division uses these platforms, please refer to the Kami Help Center linked below for more information on how to use Kami within these platforms.
