Kami is the leading PDF & document annotation app for schools. It allows you to improve engagement and interaction with your students by allowing them to have a digital pen and paper to communicate on assignments.

Not only will Kami allow teachers and students to annotate PDFs, it also provides accommodations for student read-alouds. It allows teachers and students to add video and audio comments to a document, and provides resources such as online dictionaries.

Although it is an excellent tool to use within the classroom, it is also a valuable tool for distance learning. Students with or without internet access are able to work within documents online or by using the offline mode within Google Drive.

Before beginning this professional development course, please keep in mind that Kami offers both free and paid subscription services. This tutorial will provide information for all features available in Kami. Therefore, some of these tools may not be available to you.

Determining what you can and cannot do with Kami will be very important if you choose to use Kami with your students.

Before you can use Kami with your students, you must first download the Kami Chrome Extension to your Chrome Web Browser. You can do this by going to the Chrome Web Store, searching for the Kami extension, and choosing "Download to Chrome".

* If your district subscribes to Kami, the Kami "K" may already appear in your list of Chrome extensions.

** Please be advised, it will be necessary for your students to download the Kami Chrome extension if it is not visible on their Chrome Web Browser.

After downloading the Kami chrome extension, you need to ensure that you have connected Kami to your Google Drive. If your district subscribes to the paid Kami service, this has already been done for you. If you do not have a paid subscription, please ensure that Kami is appearing as an add-on to your Google Drive by following the steps below.

To get the most use from Kami, it is important to be aware of all the tools that are available to you and your students. This lesson will focus on the navigatin tools that are available to use within the Kami chrome extension.
