Schedule changes will be limited to corrections for: 1) data entry error; 2) missing prerequisites; 3) missing graduation requirements for seniors; 4) unbalanced schedule (i.e. both P.E. classes in the same semester); 5) failure in a required course, and 6) enrollment in a College Credit Plus course offering. Schedules will be updated for students who earn additional credits in Summer School. These types of changes are to be completed within the first 5 days of school.
If a student does not meet the established prerequisites for the desired course or level, parents must request a meeting with counseling and administrative staff to discuss placement options. Course waiver forms may be completed and signed by the parent to indicate their request to have their child placed in a specific course or level. All course waivers will be reviewed, approved or denied by the school principal.
In most instances, courses at Cleveland Heights High School will not be offered when there are fewer than 15 students registered. The high school principal will recommend exceptions to the Chief Academic Officer when the elimination of a course would: 1) interrupt a sequential course (e.g. second year of a language sequence); 2) effect specific courses which are a vital part of an academic high school program; 3) effect courses for seniors which are an integrated part of career pathways or postsecondary educational plans.
The minimum credits needed for each class designation are outlined below
Certain courses are offered on an every-other year rotation. Students and families should take this into consideration when putting together their four-year academic plan. These courses must still meet the minimum number of students enrolled to run in the designated year. This is subject to change; please verify with your counselor.
