GRADES

REPORT CARDS AND PROGRESS REPORTS

Grades are issued at the end of every grading period.  Teachers will post progress reports to parents/guardians of students who are earning "F's" at the midpoint of each grading period.  Grades can be accessed online through Infinite Campus.  Credit is issued at the end of each semester regardless of whether the course is for a year or for a semester.  The semester grade is final and will be recorded on the student's transcript. ACADEMIC HONORS AND GPA

Academic Honors- In order to achieve Cleveland Heights High School Academic Honors, a student must not have earned a “D” or “F” on his/her report card. There are three levels of Academic Honors: 

Grade Point Average and Class Rank-  A student’s high school grade point average (GPA) and class rank begin with grades earned for ninth grade credit and includes all subsequent work taken in high school.  All grades are used to compute GPA unless a class is being repeated.  Grades earned in Honors, Dual Enrollment and College Credit Plus courses are enhanced one (1) grade point.  AP classes are enhanced one (1) point if students take the AP exam.  All others are not weighted. 

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

The purpose of the National Honor Society (NHS) is to acknowledge the accomplishments of high school juniors and seniors who excel in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  The scholastic requirement for all students in NHS is a Grade Point Average of at least 3.5.  Each winter, students who meet the GPA requirement are invited to an organizational meeting in which they receive criteria for admission.  A program is held each Spring to induct new members.  For further information, contact the National Honor Society 

NATIONAL TECHNICAL HONOR SOCIETY

The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) was founded in 1984 to reward excellence in career technical education. The organization seeks students who exhibit qualities of skilled workmanship, honesty, scholastic achievement, leadership, citizenship, and responsibility.  Students considered for this honor must have an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.0 (85%) and also have a 3.0 GPA in their Career Tech class. At the end of the 1st quarter the Career Tech teacher nominates deserving students. Students complete an application, go through a selection process, and are inducted in the spring. NTHS members are eligible for additional scholarships. For further information, contact the National Technical Honors Society advisor.
