Students will be introduced to a variety of coding languages and digital systems. They will learn how data is collected and compressed and analyse existing digital systems such as websites and interactive products. They will work in a range of collaborative situations to design basic algorithms and create digital systems and products. They will build and program a variety of robots and gain an understanding of coding and problem solving using digital solutions.
This elective extends the skills and knowledge from Year 8 and focuses on food experiences. It is based on practical work, planning and cooking meals, menu planning, exploring nutrients, food types and diet trends. FTA examines the attributes of a healthy person and how to attain good health through nutrition.

Students wishing to do 2 electives of Technology can request this elective in addition to FTA. FTB explores foods from different countries, the history of food in Australia and the major influences on our diet. We examine the food habits and customs of various regions of the world including the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and Asia; and prepare a variety of meals/dishes. The focus is on practical work, planning and cooking meals, menu planning and food preparation.

Students will learn foundational joinery techniques and gain experience using power tools and woodworking machinery. The course emphasises hands-on learning, where students will complete practical projects made from timber, that simulate real-world tasks.
This elective provides a solid grounding in woodwork, as well as preparing students for possible further training in vocational education or Year 10 Wood A or B.

This elective builds on the student's knowledge of the fundamentals of woodwork, with a focus on developing the skills and knowledge essential for product design. Students will explore various joinery techniques and gain hands-on experience using power tools and machinery. Through engaging design briefs, students will research, sketch, and create CAD drawings, following the complete design process from conception to the finished product.
This course lays a strong foundation for students interested in pursuing further studies in Year 10 Wood A or B and VCE Product Design and Technology, equipping them with critical thinking, creativity, and the skills and knowledge required for advanced studies.
