A Year 10 Outdoor Education semester based subject encompassing excursions and overnight / 2 day night camps. This course will have a more in-depth focus on the Outdoor and Environmental Studies Unit 1 & 2 content. Aim: Promote student engagement in the outdoors whilst simultaneously developing skills and knowledge to safely participate in activities in outdoor environments and to respect and value diverse environments. This subject covers a mix of practical experience of outdoor environments with theory-based study.
Note: User pay excursions will be used to enhance the curriculum at a cost of approximately $320* for the Semester to cover the cost of activities and bus travel. An event will be created with the cost, once the subject selection has been completed and parents will receive a notification on COMPASS to complete payment. *This amount may change each Semester as it is dependent on price rises by external suppliers.
In this elective, students explore a range of training methods designed to improve their fitness and overall understanding of how the human body works. They will gain valuable knowledge about joints, bones, muscles as well as the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Students will also learn how to get the most out of their bodies through training types, supplementation, and nutrition. To broaden their exposure to physical activity, students will attend excursions that introduce them to new and exciting sports they may not have encountered before. The theory covered in this unit provides a strong foundation for those considering VCE Physical Education.
