In Year 9, Ms Juric (Careers and Pathways), conducts information sessions with students on Higher Education options such as VCE, VCE VM, VET, SbATs, Individual Pathways, and Work Experience in Year 10. Students are advised to start seeking Year 10 Work Experience placements early, as some industries receive high demand and places fill up quickly, up to a year in advance, especially in fields like Medical and Legal.
All Year 9 students are given the chance to complete a Morrisby Profile Questionnaire, which assesses their Aptitude, Interests, Personality, and Learning Style. This Personal Discovery Tool provides valuable insights on career pathways and job opportunities that match their natural abilities, interests, and personality, including the subjects they need to study. The students also receive a 30-minute meeting to discuss their report and to explore their options further.
Additionally, students participate in a 10-minute one-on-one Mock Job Interview with an external company to gain realistic experience in applying and interviewing for a job. They prepare a resume and cover letter and dress appropriately for a professional interview. Each student receives written feedback on their performance, making this experience a great opportunity to prepare for casual or part-time work.
