Students will make their short films to learn and experience the production process of researching, planning and communicating through audio/visual (video) mediums. Students examine the art of storytelling, analysing film scenes and then experiment to find their filmmaker voice within a highly creative medium. Students explore and provide visual or audio/visual responses to a range of ideas, themes, topics and perspectives.

This subject offers a deeper exploration of music performance and musicianship, preparing students for VCE Music or enriching their music experience.
Students will:
Refine solo and group performance skills with two polished pieces,
Apply advanced expressive techniques and stage presence,
Analyse and describe music from various genres and contexts,
Use technology to develop listening (aural) and transcription skills,
Expand theory knowledge including; notation, scales, chords, and intervals,
Participate in masterclass-style workshops and give a final performance.
This elective balances practical and theoretical work, offering a strong foundation for further music studies or personal growth as a musician.
Recommended: One year of experience on an instrument or in singing.
Theatre Studies students in Year 10 explore a range of theatrical conventions and dramatic elements in the creation of small and large group ensembles. This leads to devising their own dramatic production for an audience and taking on production roles such as stage design, direction, lighting, sound, make-up and costume. Assessment is based on participation, performance and set written tasks.
In Year 10 Visual Arts, students expand on their knowledge of artistic practice while exploring how artists manipulate materials, techniques, technologies and processes to develop and express their intentions in artworks. Students are guided to conceptualise, plan and design artworks that express ideas, concepts and artistic intentions in both 2D & 3D mediums. Students continue to extend their understanding of safe visual arts practices and choose to use sustainable materials, techniques and technologies. It is in Year 10 that students further develop their visual analysis skills to interpret and evaluate a range of visual artworks from different cultures, and historical and contemporary contexts, including artworks by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, to explore differing viewpoints.

This unit incorporates computers and other drawing instruments in the design process, using both conventional drawing processes and creative drawing methods. Students use text as a design component and research the appropriate use of typography. They use layout design to change the communication purpose, and where applicable, draw using the computer to build up our images. Assessment is based on a folio of work, a sketchbook and research projects.
