Class of 2021 Senior Hall of Fame

Remy Abrams

Remy has been involved in Eastside (Editor-in-Chief this year), Girls Varsity Lacrosse, Blood Drive, Athletes Against Bullying, Social Studies Honor Society and DECA. Her Junior year, she was selected as a Positive Coaching Rep, CH Township Govt Day Rep and Girls State Alternate. Within the community, she is an executive teen board member for Tools for School. Remy will be attending the University of Southern California for Writing for Screen & Television in the Fall.

Benjamin Adler

Ben has been involved in Varsity Basketball (this year’s Captain), FOP, Blood Drive, Jewish Student Union, Athletes Against Bullying, and was a Powder Puff Coach both Junior and Senior year. Within the community, he is a BBYO member and works on a Food Drive. He received the Basketball Outstanding Supporting Player Award in 2019. Ben will be attending Penn State University for Information Science & Technology in the Fall.

Annie Behm

Annie has been involved in Varsity Swimming all 4 years at East (this year’s Captain), Choir & Future Doctors of America Club. She was 1st Team All South Jersey all 4 years, 1st Team All State Sophomore & Junior year, Rookie of the year as a Freshman, East MVP & South Jersey Swimmer of the Year her Junior year. Annie will be attending the University of Notre Dame to study Biology in the Fall, and she will swim for their team.

Samantha Bell

Sami has been involved in SGA (Class VP 9th, 10th & 11th Grade), Eastside (current Editor-in-Chief, Community Editor last year), FOP (Chairperson last year), DECA, Social Studies Honor Society & Lacrosse. She’s a Tools for School teen board member in the community. Sami will be attending the University of Maryland to study Government & Politics in the Fall.

Naomi Bereketab

Naomi has been involved in Eastside (current Opinions Editor), Bridge Tutoring (Leader Junior & Senior year), African American Culture Club (Officer Junior & Senior year), DECA, Mock Trial, Operation Smile, Miracle League, FOP, and both Social Studies & English Honor Societies. She has received many DECA honors & awards, as well as College Board National African Scholar (2020) & AP Scholar with Distinction (2020). Naomi will be attending Cornell University to study Pre-Law in the Fall.

Hemma Boggi

Hemma has been involved in Stage Crew all 4 years, Swim Team (current Captain), Yearbook (current Editor), Thespian Society, Social Studies Honor Society, English National Honors Society and PAVAS. She also volunteers for Distributing Dignity. Hemma is excited to join the Hall of Fame ranks of her mom, who was a member of the CH East Class of 1991 Hall of Fame. Hemma will be attending Rutgers University New Brunswick to study Psychology in the Fall

Kalel Carkeek

Kalel has been involved in Baseball all 4 years, Blood Drive (Chairperson Junior & Senior year), SGA (Senior Class VP), Athletes Against Bullying (current officer) & FOP. In the community, he is a JFCS volunteer and is the Co-Founder/Co-President of Feeding Jersey. Kalel has made Honor Roll all 4 years of high school and is a member of Cum Laude Society.

Rachel Cassway

Rachel has been involved in SGA, DECA, Tennis, Interact Club & Eastside Photo/Art for all 4 years at East. She has also participated in FOP, Lacrosse & Athletes Against Bullying. In the community, she has been Chapter President, VP, Mktg Mgr & Treasurer for BBYO and is a Coordinator for JLEAD. Rachel will be attending Northeastern University for Business Administration & Design in the Fall.

Cecilia Cavallo

Cecilia has been involved in SGA (Freshman Year Class VP) and Lacrosse all 4 years, as well as Soccer, Cum Laude Society, and Spanish, Social Studies & Science Honors Societies. She was also a 2020 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. Cecilia will be attending NYU for Biochemistry in the Fall.

Caitlin Cepeda

Caitlin has been involved in Stay Tuned (current Officer), Thespian Society (current President), Theater (from Paint Crew Charge to Actor, Director, Stage Manager, Company Manager & more!), Chinese Student Association, PAVAS, Wind Ensemble, Mime Company, Cum Laude Society and is a member of Science, English and Chinese Honors Societies. She was awarded Stage Manager of the Year in 2020 and is a National Merit Scholar. Caitlin will be attending Northeastern University to study Biology (Pre-Med) in the Fall.

Peter Cuddihy

Pete has been involved in Theater, Choir & Mime all 4 years. He has also been a member of SGA (current School VP & Junior Year Class VP), Thespian Society (current VP & Junior Year Theater Booster Liaison), Voce, Stay Tuned, Social Studies Honors Society, Interact Club, Track, and 2020 RYLA delegate. In the Community, he is a Co Founder of Feeding Jersey. Pete will be attending Rutgers University New Brunswick in the Fall to study Acting & Communications.

Tiernan Dautle

Tiernan has been involved in Marching Band (Front Ensemble Captain), Classics Club, Belles, Women in Science: Next Generation (VP), Cum Laude Society (President), Latin Honors Society (President & former Treasurer), Filipino Cultural Society & Pit Orchestra. She has been awarded the National Latin Exam Gold Medal (2018 & 2020), AP Scholar w/Distinction (2020), All State Mixed Choir (2018) & All State Treble Choir (2020). Tiernan will be attending Louisiana State University School of Engineering in the Fall.

Aubrey Demurjian

Aubrey has been involved in Field Hockey, SGA, Interact Club, Future Doctors of America, Women in Science, Athletes Against Bullying, French Club, Italian Culture Club, East Community Helping Others (ECHO) and FOP. She was our Board of Education Alternate Rep this year and received the Cherry Hill East Cougar Award in 2019. Aubrey will be attending Bowdoin College to study Biology (Pre-Med) in the Fall.

Kristen Eng

Kristen has been involved in SGA (Sophomore & Junior Class VP), Chinese Student Association, Robotics, Orchestra (Sophomore Year Concertmaster), Blood Drive (Sophomore & Junior Year Chairperson), Interact Club, and was a PLC Student Voice Advocate. She has volunteered in the community for the Settlement Music School Junior Orchestra. Kristen has been a member of Spanish Honors Society, Science Honors Society, and was a National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Student.

Hank Feudtner

Hank has been involved in Soccer (current Captain) and Lacrosse (current Captain) for all four years at Cherry Hill HS East. He is also a member of FOP, Italian Culture Club and Cum Laude Society. In the community, he volunteers for Saint Paul’s Church Soup Kitchen. Also, he was awarded All-State Soccer in 2020. Hank will be attending Fordham University to study Biological Sciences in the Fall.

Carly Fowler

Carly has been involved in SGA, FOP & Spirit Week Dance Captain/Choreographer for all 4 years at East. She has also been a member of DECA, Cum Laude Society (VP), & Science National Honors Society. In the Community, she is a member of BBYO & the Jazz Unlimited Dance Team. She has made Honor Roll all 4 years, DECA Regionals 1st in Category (2020) & was a DE Valley Science Council Awards Finalist (2020). Carly will be attending Duke University to study Environmental Engineering in the Fall.

Nicholas Gangewere

Nick has been involved in Eastside, Soccer, FOP, DECA, SGA and Italian Culture Club. In the community, he volunteers for St. Mary’s Church. He has been awarded Eastside’s NSPA OCC Award (2020), was a DECA ICDC Qualifier (2020) and was the Soccer Freshman Offensive MVP (2017). Nick will be attending Temple University to study Journalism in the Fall.

Rebecca Germaine

Rebecca has been involved in Belles (Current Officer), Russian Club (President 2yrs & VP 2yrs), Women in Science: Next Generation(current Head Chairperson), ECHO, TXT L8R Club, PAVAS, English National Honors Society and Cum Laude Society. In the community, she volunteers for the Philadelphia Flower Show, Dafna Care Packages for Cancer Patients, and bakes dog treats for AWA. She was a 2020 American Legion Auxiliary East Representative. Rebecca will be attending George Washington University to study Public Health (Pre-Med) in the Fall.

Alexa Gershon

Alexa has been involved in Voce (Officer), Mime (Company Manager), Theater, Thespian Society, SGA, Choir, and French National Honors Society. In the community, she volunteers for The Shores Assisted Living & Lions Gate. She won Best Actress of the Year in 2020, Best Actress in One-Acts (2019) & received a Bronze Medal in French Exam (2018). Alexa will be attending the University of Tampa to pursue a BFA in Musical Theater in the Fall.

Reese Green

Reese has been involved in Varsity Football (Team Captain), African American Culture Club, Bridge Tutoring and was a Boys State representative. In the community, he volunteers for the YMCA, Operation Christmas, IHOC, CHAACA (speaker/helper) and is a church youth group leader. He received the Cougar Award in 2020. Reese will be attending Temple University to study Communication & Media (Journalism) in the Fall.

Jordan Grossman

Jordan has been involved in Soccer, Winter Track (Captain), Spring Track (Captain), SGA (Senior Class President) and was recently crowned Mr. East 2021. In the community, he volunteers for the JFCS of SJ, BBYO and Ambassadors.IL. He was the Soccer Defensive MVP (2018), Winter Track 2nd Team All Conference (2019) & placed 3rd in the Correll Science Fair (2019). Jordan will be attending Ohio State University to study Aerospace Engineering in the Fall.

Thomas Ji

Thomas has been involved in Project Success (Coleader), German National Honors Society (VP), Interact Club, Robotics, Environmental Club, Baking Club, Chess Club, Science National Honors Society and Cum Laude Society. He was awarded the Millville Robotics Design Award (2020). Thomas will be attending the University of Massachusetts - Amherst to study Computer Science in the Fall.

Jeffrey Kaminer

Jeffrey has been involved in SGA (Sophomore Class President, Junior Year School VP), Blood Drive (Chairperson), Eastside (Art Director), DECA, Chinese Student Association, FOP, Indian Cultural Society, Baseball and Latin Honors Society. He received multiple awards in DECA Regionals and States (2019 & 2020). Jeffrey will be attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison to study Business in the Fall.

Patrick Kelly

Patrick has been involved in Jazz Band (Saxophone Section Leader), Stay Tuned (Co-Officer), Marching Band, Jazz Standards, Pit Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, East Singers and Saxophone Quartet. He received awards for Outstanding Soloist (2018) and Best Saxophone Section (2019). Patrick will be attending the University of the Arts to pursue his Bachelor of Music in Composition in the Fall.

Ryan Lafferty

Ryan has been involved in Boys Soccer, Blood Drive (Chairperson), SGA, FOP, DECA, Future Doctors of America, Italian Culture Club, and Social Studies & Spanish Honors Society. In the community, he’s the Co-Founder & VP of Bandz for Mealz in SJ. He is a two time DECA State Conference Qualifier & has made Honor Roll every semester. Ryan will be attending UCLA to study Human Biology and Society (Pre-Med) in the Fall.

Justina Lam

Justina has been involved in Robotics (Programmer), Cum Laude Society (Tutor), Spanish National Honors Society (Tutor), and English National Honors Society. In the community, she’s a Website Designer, SJ Psychopharmacology Senior Fencer & Fencers Club Charity Runner. She was selected to represent Team USA at World Cups & other International Competitions: London, Manchester, Austria, & France (2019), Rome, Croatia & Germany (2020), 3-time National Champion in Women’s Foil Fencing (2018, 2019), Nationally Ranked in Women’s Fencing (2020), USA Fencing All-American 1st Team (2018, 2019, 2020), won silver & bronze medals at Junior Olympics (2019), and much more. Justina will be attending the University of Pennsylvania to study Computer Science and continue fencing in the Fall.

Maxwell Lee

Max has been involved in Interact Club (current President, Secretary Junior Year), Baking Club (Founder & Co-Leader), Choir, Environmental Club, Swim Team, Project Success, RYLA delegate, Cum Laude Society, Science, Social Studies & English National Honors Society. In the community, he volunteers for The Unforgotten Haven. He was awarded as an AP Capstone Diploma/National Scholar. Maxwell will be attending Hamilton College to study Economics or Environment & Sustainability in the Fall.

Grayson Leslie

Grayson has been involved in Yearbook (Editor of Senior & Special Events), Lemon Club (Secretary), FIDM Fashion Club (Secretary), German Club, Bridge Tutoring, Costume Crew, Makeup Crew, DECA, Interact Club, Jazz Band, FOP, RYLA delegate, Spirit Week Dance, Theater, Thespian Society, German National Honors Society & English National Honors Society. In the community, she volunteers for AWA, Rosa Drama Club (Assistant Student Director), Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (Student Ambassador), Voorhees Theatre Company (Student Board Member), and is involved in BBYO. Grayson will be attending TCNJ to study Speech Pathology & Audiology in the Fall.

Andrew Luehrs

Drew has been involved in Boys Soccer all four years at East (Senior Year Captain and 3 year Varsity starter), DECA, Athletes Against Bullying and Positive Coaching Alliance. He was 2nd Team All Olympic American Conference his Sophomore and Junior Year. Drew will be attending Seton Hall University to study Finance in the Fall.

Luke Luehrs

Luke has been involved in Boys Soccer all four years at East (Senior Year Head Captain) DECA, and Operation Smile. He was 2nd Team All South Jersey Boys Soccer (2020) and Boys Soccer All Olympic Conference (2020). Luke will be attending Ursinus College and continuing soccer for them in the Fall.

Joshua Manders

Josh has been involved in SGA and Baseball all 4 years at East, as well as Blood Drive (Chairperson for 3 years), Cum Laude Society (VP), FOP, Miracle League, Jewish Student Union and English, Spanish & Science National Honors Societies. In the community, he volunteers as a Food Drive Organizer for JFCS. Josh will be attending the University of Wisconsin to study Biology (Pre-Med) in the Fall.

Leah Marcelli

Leah has been involved in Marching Band, Belles (Officer), German Club, Jazz Band, Lab Band, Symphony Orchestra, Pit Orchestra, Girls Track & Field, Boys Swim Team Manager, East Musicians on Call, and Spirit Week Dance. In the community, she volunteers for Trinity Presbyterian Church Youth Group & Mission work, and Collingswood Community Theater. Leah will be attending the University of Delaware in the Fall.

Marykathleen McCurdy

Marykate has been involved in Varsity Girls Cross Country (Captain 2 Years), Varsity Girls Spring Track (Captain 2 Years), Varsity Girls Winter Track (Captain 2 Years), Environmental Club (President 2 Years), Voce, DECA, Theater, Girls Soccer and Operation Smile. In the community, she volunteers for Christ Our Light Church. She has been awarded the People’s Choice Award (2020), Cougar Award (2019), Most Team-Spirited Award (2018), The Diamond in the Rough Drama Award (2018) & The Most Improved Award (2019). Marykate will be attending Drexel University to study Business Administration Marketing in the Fall.

Akash Patel

Akash has been involved in Varsity Volleyball (Captain), Junior Varsity Volleyball (Captain), Biology Club (President), Indian Cultural Society (Treasurer), Latin National Honors Society (Treasurer), DECA, Latin Certamen Team, Cum Laude Society, and Science & English National Honors Societies. In the community, he has volunteered at Virtua Marlton Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. He was both a 2020 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist and an AP Scholar with Distinction. Akash will be attending Indiana University at Bloomington in the Fall.

Julia Piotrowski

Julia has been involved in SGA (Senior Class VP), Girls Soccer, Girls Basketball, Multi-Cultural Day (Communications VP Junior Year), Athletes Against Bullying, Operation Smile, Bridge Tutoring, FOP, Reach Out & Read, Little Mentors and Science & English National Honors Societies. In the community, she has volunteered for Vacation Bible School and Feed My Starving Children. Julia will be attending Clemson University to study Special Education in the Fall.

Daniel Pipersburgh

Daniel has been involved in SGA (Current Student Body President & Junior Class President), Concert Choir (President), EMC (Tech Director), Theater, Thespian Society, Freshman Football, STEM and Physics Club. In the community, he has volunteered for Seeds of Hope Food Pantry. He has been awarded People’s Choice (2018,2021), Best Supporting Actor in One-Acts (2018,2019), Best Supporting Actor of the Year (2021), and Lockheed Martin Stem Scholar. Daniel will be attending University of California - Davis to study Aerospace Engineering (Aero-thermodynamics & Nuclear Physics) in the Fall.

Machayla Randall

Machayla has been involved in African American Culture Club (Junior & Senior Year Leader), Volleyball, Drive Now TXT L8R, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In the community, she has volunteered for Connect Church Kids Teen Leadership, Black History Show, Student Led Protest and Feed My Starving Children. She has been awarded People’s Choice (2021) and AP Scholar Award (2020). Machayla will be attending Georgia Institute of Technology to study Chemistry in the Fall.

Nicholas Reigel

Nick has been involved in Marching Band (Assistant Front Ensemble Captain), Symphony Orchestra (Principal Timpanist/Percussionist), Habitat for Humanity (Secretary), Voce, and East Musicians on Call. In the community, he has volunteered as Rosa’s Drama Lighting Designer/Technician and Church Youth Group, Cantor & Lector. He has been awarded People’s Choice (2021), Student of Character (2018), National Merit Commended Scholar (2020) and Boys State Delegate (2020). Nick will be attending the University of Delaware to study Electrical Engineering in the Fall.

Gabriel Rodriguez

Gabe has been involved in Cross Country (Captain), Winter Track (Captain), Boys Spring Track (Captain), CHPS Positive Coaching Alliance, DECA (Regional & State), Athletes Against Bullying, Future Doctors of America, Spanish Honors Society, & Finance Club. In the community, he has volunteered for Bandz for Mealz, St Mary’s Parish, St Mary’s Nursing Home, TA for Hamilton Elementary, Middle School Tutor, & Barclay Neighborhood Cleanup (Chairman). He has been awarded Student of Character (2019, 2020), Presidential Community Service Award-Silver (2017), Boys State Delegate (2020), 1st Team All-Conference Runner (2019, 2020), Sectional, State, Meet of Champions Athlete (2018, 2019, 2020), & more. Gabe will be attending Marist College to study Economics in the Fall.

Dominic Scott

Dom has been involved in Stay Tuned (Officer), Break Dancing Club (Leader), Jazz Band, Jazz Standards, Marching Band, and Theater. In the community, he has volunteered for Cherry Hill Trail Crew, Christ Our Light Food Ministry, Dancing with the CH Stars (pianist), and NJ School of Music (pianist). He has been awarded Marching Band Best Brass Section (2017, 2019) and Stay Tuned ICHSA Quarterfinal Winner (2020). Dom will be attending Drexel University to study Economics in the Fall.

Tyler Semon

Tyler has been involved in SGA (Freshman Class President, Sophomore & Senior Class VP, and Junior Year School VP), Marching Band (Drum Major), Bridge Tutoring (Leader), Science Olympiad (Treasurer), Cum Laude Tutoring, Wind Ensemble, Biology Club, Spanish, Social Studies, English & Science Honors Societies, PAVAS, Chinese Student Association and Mr East 2nd Runner Up. In the community, he has been a Junior Police Volunteer and Karate Instructor/3rd Degree Black Belt. He has been awarded National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist (2020), AP Scholar (2020), Student of Character (2017), State Student Government Candidate & Y’is Karate Student of the Year (2018). Tyler will be attending the US Military Academy at West Point to study Life Science (Pre-Med) in the Fall.

Jordyn Swarbrick

Jordyn has been involved in Multi-Cultural Day (Co-President), DECA, FOP, Boys Track & Field Manager, Spirit Week Dance & Booth, Eastside Art Contributor, Photography Aide, Cum Laude Society and English National Honors Society. In the community, she has been a volunteer teacher’s assistant for Jazz Unlimited and Camp Nock-a-Mixon Camp Council Secretary. She has been awarded Student of Character (2018-19), People’s Choice Award (2020), and AP Scholar with Honor Award (2020). Jordyn will be attending Tulane University to study Accounting in the Fall.

Joy Thomas

Joy has been involved in Cheerleading (Junior and Senior Captain), African American Culture Club (Officer), Future Doctors of America, TXT L8R Drive Now, Operation Smile and Ping Pong Club. In the community, she has been a volunteer for Voorhees Pediatric Center, Green Agent and Teen Summer. She has been awarded Student of Character (2018 and 2019) and the Cougar Award (2019). Joy will be attending Rutgers University New Brunswick to study Neuroscience in the Fall.

Aidan Weingrad

Aidan has been involved in Wrestling (Captain), Bridge Tutoring, SGA, English, Social Studies and Science National Honors Society. In the community, he has been a volunteer for the JFCS of SNJ and is a co-founder of the Feeding Jersey Food Drive. He has been awarded Most Valuable Wrestler (2020) and 35 Win Club (2020). Aidan will be attending Muhlenberg College to study Neuroscience in the Fall.

Chelsea Yang

Chelsea has been involved in Swim Team, Swim Team Manager, Biology Club (VP), Orchestra, Multi-Cultural Day Committee, Science Olympiad, Spanish & Science Honors Society, and Cum Laude Society. In the community, she has been a Folk Dance Teacher, Chinese School TA, and a volunteer for Vacation Bible School, Voorhees Care & Rehabilitation Center, Project Brother Love, and FASCA Princeton. She has been awarded World Dance Championship’s Final Five (2018), Finalist for the International Phyliss J. McCarthy Scholarship for Excellence in Writing (2020), and National Merit Commended Scholar (2020). Chelsea will be attending Carnegie Mellon University to study Neuroscience in the Fall.
