This booth will give coaches and practitioners an opportunity to learn more about the work in our global network, opportunities to participate, meet colleagues from different regions and communities of practice and ask questions.
The Nature Conservancy has just updated Conservation by Design, which is in essence TNC's adaptation of the Conservation Standards. Conservation by Design is now available as a series of modules, with self-paced facilitator trainings for those who want to learn how to use them, and with Mural templates that can be used and adapted for most needs. We'd love to show you our new website as well as our course room on conservationtraining.org, and we will also have a couple of examples of how it works for you to experience live.
Do you wonder what CMP is and what it does? Do you know how CMP and CCNet collaborate? Do you want to make a difference and help our community achieve the biggest impact we can? Come visit our booth and learn about all the active and exciting initiatives CMP is advancing, including those we are doing in partnership with CCNet. We are here to answer your questions, tell you more about CMP, get you involved in initiatives, and even help you determine if your organization should consider CMP membership.
Over the past few years, an increasing number of courses and other opportunities have become available for those who wish to learn the action planning component of the Conservation Standards. Fewer opportunities are available to learn how to create monitoring and work plans to implement a CS-based project. A couple of years ago, I reached out to the Conservation Coaches network seeking templates and examples of simple work and monitoring plans, so I could offer better assistance to clients. I was surprised to learn that there are few generic templates available, as most are organization-specific. So, I gathered what information I could, and I created my own universal template.
Come learn about what’s new in the Conservation Standards V 5.0! This version is the product of 1.5 years of work, bringing together insights and innovations from nearly 100 contributors across our global community! Visit this booth to find out what's new and to ask any questions!
Are you struggling to get others in your organisation to use the Conservation Standards? Do you wish there were other folks around to help you? Well there are! The CS Adoption Support Group meets every 2nd month to help each other out with these types of challenges, in a confidential and very supportive way. Come along and we'll talk with you about how the group works, and how it can help you.
The Conservation Standards (CS) website features a user-curated Google Map showcasing projects and organizations that implement CS principles worldwide. This map allows users to input key details such as contact information, project descriptions, and links, providing an excellent tool to highlight the global reach and impact of the CS community. However, the map remains incomplete and underutilized. We will use our booth at the Rally to raise awareness of the map and provide a hands-on opportunity for participants to add new project information or update previously submitted details.
Are you stuck in the fog? Confused about what training opportunities are available? Then join us to demystify Conservation Standards Training options! We will be sharing examples of the types of courses available from self-paced to fully facilitated, online to in-person, and academic to practitioner focused. We would also love to hear about any training opportunities that you know about so we can add them to our list and share them with our global community!
Are you planning for freshwater systems, or thinking about it? Are you planning for other systems, and wondering about the potential for freshwater outcomes? A freshwater team from TNC is exploring principles and best practices for freshwater conservation planning. We’d love to share ideas, hear your ideas, and explore options to work together to develop freshwater guidance for Conservation Standards.
We recently realized how challenging it can be to effectively plan and carry out conservation initiatives, especially when following the Open Standards. That’s why, at our booth, we want to showcase how generative AI—using tools like Prompteo and Poe.com assistants—can help streamline research processes, propose innovative approaches, and facilitate collaboration among multidisciplinary teams. Our aim is for you to see firsthand how straightforward it can be to explore ideas, synthesize findings, and document plans more efficiently. We hope to inspire you to incorporate these technologies into your daily work and, in doing so, help improve conservation outcomes and knowledge sharing in our community.
This booth will showcase an initiative dedicated to developing approaches and practical tools for planning that supports Indigenous- and community-led conservation. As part of this effort, we are exploring ways to strengthen leadership, self-determination, and adaptive management in conservation planning. Participants are invited to share their perspectives and engage in discussions on these key topics.
Learn about how Miradi software helps teams implement the Conservation Standards and develop better information for decision making. At this booth, we share the latest developments and future plans for advancing Miradi software! The Miradi development team would love your input on the future of Miradi.
This five-year pilot project focuses on improving protected area management through partnerships with innovative businesses. We believe that businesses can be valid allies of protected area managers to create win-win solutions. Over the coming years, we’ll work with five protected areas in Europe and Africa to test this approach. We have developed a Theory of Change and a monitoring scheme for using CS to perform management planning and threat analysis for the sites and identify and monitor the success of businesses and their effective contribution to site management.
Come learn about this widely used toolkit that is packed full of suggestions for lighter approached to coaching teams through the CS, as well as a range of practical tools and templates for many CS steps! This toolkit will you feel better prepared for coaching conservation teams with varying levels of resources and experience or interest in the CS.
Share your story with CMP communications and tell us about how the Conservation Standards have improved the work you are doing to support habitats, wildlife, and communities in your region.

Collaboration between the SMART Partnership and the Conservation Standards community is vital to advancing effective, evidence-based conservation. By working more closely together, we can bridge the gap between robust adaptive management principles and practical tools for protected area (PA) managers. At this rally, the collaborative team is excited to launch the "SMART Approach to Adaptive Management"—a comprehensive framework and manual that integrates the practices and principles of the Conservation Standards into a tailored approach for SMART users. This initiative empowers PA managers to assess, plan, monitor, and adapt their strategies with greater precision, ensuring measurable conservation outcomes. Visit our booth to learn more and join the conversation!
Come to the photobooth, dress up, and reflect on your experiences and share some wisdom as a conservation leader! As coaches, our job is to foster reflection and provide sound constructive criticism to the teams we support, and while doing so we need to find the dangerous or weak spots to protect the process and contribute to the best possible results, but we also need to be respectful and caring when we provide feedback. Lessons and advice will be collected and photos will be shared back with the Rally participants.
Most drivers of biodiversity loss and climate change are market-based. Many of the Threats that we deal with relate to human behaviour in response to market incentives. Designing Actions to deal with these Threats therefore needs to understand and influence the underlying markets. We have developed some new guidance that will help coaches know when, and how, to analyse markets as part of their strategy development work. Come along and learn more about "Green Market Systems Development" and help us shape the next round of more-detailed guidance.
