Career development can feel overwhelming when you don't know where to start or find support. This page will allow you to have better visibility and understand of all the different professional development programs the organization offers for employees from underrepresented groups.
The EDI Development Fund helps managers/supervisors support the professional development of underrepresented employees (racialized people, Indigenous people, people with disabilities, queer community, women) who can get up to $15,000 annually.
Examples of projects that have been previously approved:
Mentoring projects
Education: professional certifications, courses in a particular skill, language courses
Training for specific positions for promotion or offer of a permanent contract, secondment opportunities
Succession Plan Training
Contract extensions for temporary employees with potential permanent contract opportunities at the end
Hiring for specific projects (e.g. Olympic Games)

The DEL program equips talented staff from underrepresented groups (racialized people, Indigenous Peoples and people with disabilities) with insights, tools and strategies to help advance their careers with confidence and purpose. It includes a combination of in-class theory, experiential learning, exposure to senior leaders, assignments, and mentoring for a period of ten months.

The CAPE program is a six-month paid program inviting hiring managers to employ professionals with disabilities to help eliminate barriers and kickstart their careers. Ten participants will be hired in locations across CBC English Services to work in a selection of roles.

CBC's On-Air Talent Program is a nine-week paid placement for broadcast professionals who are living with a disability. Run by CBC's Equity & Inclusion (E&I) department, it aims to develop the careers of disabled professionals working in media who aspire to be on-air hosts.
