Amy Sylla (she/her) was appointed as MarComms's EDI Lead on October 2022.
She joined the department after working for 18 months as an EDI Senior Specialist in People & Culture's EDI & Engagement team. Her main mandates included assisting in developing the "Progress in progress" 2022-25 EDI national strategy, leading the EDI Development Fund, managing the anti-discrimination platform Be-Heard, and analyzing data on workforce diversity.

An EDI Lead is responsible for promoting and implementing initiatives that ensure fairness, representation, and equal opportunities for all department members, regardless of their background, identity, or characteristics. This role primarily concerns creating a more inclusive and equitable workplace and environment where all individuals are respected, valued, and empowered to contribute their best.
Member of CBC's Equity and Inclusion department, the EDI Lead works closely with leadership, human resources, learning & development and EDI professionals within and outside the organization, to develop strategies, policies, and programs that address diversity, equity, and inclusion issues.
Strategy Development
Develop a comprehensive EDI strategy and provide guidance in developing action plans that align with the organization's goals and values and creating a roadmap for achieving equity, diversity and inclusion objectives.
Training and Education
Propose and oversee the deployment of relevant training and training sessions and educational programs, ensuring the skills development of the staff and fostering a more inclusive workplace.
Psychological Safety
Build psychological safety in the department by providing tools and practices to foster two-way trust between employees and leaders, contributing to a healthy workplace and sustainable shared success.
Conflict Resolution
Address discrimination, bias, or exclusion concerns and work to resolve conflicts fairly and effectively.
Communication
Develop communication strategies to promote awareness of EDI initiatives, share success stories, and foster a culture of openness and inclusion.
Employee Representation
Work closely with IDEA Collective and ERGs to ensure that their voices, needs, and perspectives are accurately represented in EDI discussions.
Promote engagement and participation among IDEA Collective in improving EDI strategies and policies.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Continuously monitor the effectiveness of EDI programs and initiatives and make adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
Partnerships and External Engagement
Provide guidance in collaborating with external organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders to promote diversity and inclusion both within the organization and in the broader community.
