Derek Wolf lives in a family of four. He has a wife, Shawna Wolf, who also graduated from Carlton High School, which is where he met her. He has two sons, one is three years old and the other is two years old. In his interview, he mentioned that his kid's favorite holiday is Halloween. He also said that his kids take up most of his free time. But he doesn’t mind. Derek bought a house near Carlton High School which is where he and his family live now.
Derek grew up in Brainerd, Minnesota. He then moved to Carlton his Junior year of high school. In high school, he enjoyed fishing a lot. He would fish for hours on Chub Lake with all of his high school buddies and his dad. He also enjoyed going to his shack to go hunting. In high school, he played football and baseball but did not pursue his sports career in college. One day in high school, he helped the school custodian get a lift from the fire department. While he was there, the people were talking about how they needed some new young recruits. He talked to his high school buddies about it and they all decided to volunteer at the fire department. Derek still volunteers at the fire department to this day.
Derek Wolf currently works as the Superintendent of Public Works for the City of Carlton, and enjoys helping firefighters by participating and helping as a volunteer. Public works construction (such as schools, highways, and docks) are made for public use or enjoyment especially when financed and owned by the government. Derek started working when he was 15 years old, mowing lawns for his neighbors. When he was 16 and got his license he got a job working for a construction company for a few hours after school. Which definitely benefits him now with his current job.
