Remember- financial aid depends on two things:
Federal: Pell Grant- $0-6195/year (for students with EFCs under $6000)
State: Texas Grant- $5000 for students with EFCs of $0.
State: Texas Public Educational Grant (TPEG)- depends on college.

UT Austin- none
Texas Tech- none
Federal: Up to $5500 in Direct Loans.
Institution: Merit Scholarships from a couple thousand to full tuition
Federal: Pell Grant- $0-6195/year (for students with EFCs under $6000)
State: Tuition Equalization Grant Program (TEG)- Up to $3,420/year (up to $5,130 for students with EFCs below $1000)
Federal: Up to $5500 in Direct Loans.
Institution: Institutional need & merit-based financial aid will determine the affordability of any private college and is very difficult to predict. Use the % of Need Met indicator in Texas Affordability to get a good estimate about which private colleges give generous need-based financial aid.
Federal: Pell Grant- $0-6195/year (for students with EFCs under $6000)
Texas Educational Opportunity Grant- Up to $5876/year
The combination of these two grants should cover the full cost of a public, 2 year college in TX for lower income students who qualify!
